When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer] Empty When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer]

Post by Scortia Fri Nov 25, 2016 9:44 am

It was just before the meeting. Scortia was debating on whether or not to attend, as well as discussing something important with her recent mate. And that was the topic of the strange weather. She couldn't quite explain it, but recently, the desert and savannah had been a lot drier than usual. Now that this letter had arrived, combined with the strange letter, she couldn/'t help but feel that something bad was about to happen. That this all was just some bad omen. she began to pace back and forth, waiting for Acer to arrive.

Acer was in his quarters when the note arrived. Segments of tail armour were piled neatly in the corner of the room. He picked up the note. It was from Scortia; his somewhat recent mate, about something urgent they needed to talk about. He was a little annoyed at being interrupted at such an inconvenient time, but he decided nobody would notice if he walked around with a blade strapped to his tail, so he opened the door and made his way down the halls, trying not to dull the steel blade on the sandstone. He poked his head into the room Scortia had said to meet in and said "Scortia? You said that there was something urgent?". He raised an eyebrow at her pacing, concerned.

Scortia continues pacing, her eyes averted from the main entrance. She only stops once she hears footsteps approaching, which causes her ears to flick back towards the noise, and her eyes narrow a bit. When Acer arrives, she straightens up, folding her wings in front of her, reappearing to capture her regal essence. She's about the same size as he is, if not a few feet, but she has much more authority than he, and do to her intimidating appearance, people often can see her as much larger than she actually is. But she isn't trying to be intimidating, just keep her royal facade. However, once the guard who escorted Acer leaves, her muscles loosen up.

"Ah, Acer, I'm glad you're hear," she says, walking over to her throne. She quickly retrieved the letter that had arrived recently from where she had placed it, and, carrying it in her talon, took it over to her mate. "It is important. I'm sure you are aware that the patrol recently came in with a mysterious letter from the ones slain by the border, correct? Well, I it over. It was written in the Universal tongues, and came from the Xoya. They claim they are having a peaceful gathering, and invited us...." she exclaimed, looking down at the letter as she unfolded it for Acer to see.

"However, I have also recently received a message from our Safyz'a(Ki'shan shaman, if you didn't know). She has told me that the Gods say something terrible is about to happen. I am worried that these two things might corralate with each other. After all, the gods would not warn us of such a danger at this time, right when we also received this letter, if they did not mean to warn us of a great danger that might befall our clan if we attend?" the Kuz'a said, concern written on her face. In all of her years as Kuz'a, she had never received a message from the Gods like this.

When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer] Empty Re: When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer]

While Acer didn't consider himself very religious, his face twitched at news of the letter. He stared at the letter and read through it. Compared to Scortia his stance appeared quite modest, yet graceful in his movement. Even though he was only a foot shorter than his mate, he knew she attracted far more attention than he did, which he didn't mind. "So this is the letter - how odd. The Xoyans know we aren't exactly on the best of terms, and we never attend these sorts of events," he noted. He decided to think about the warning; he knew how much it meant to Scortia. "If the gods say something terrible is about to happen, we can't prevent it, only be prepared. If we don't attend, the Xoyans might be offended, or we might miss an important event. If we do... anything could happen."

Acer looked up from the invitation, which was quite short and concise, containing but a carefully written paragraph of Universal. If there were a Lekuz'a of age this would be the perfect situation for them, but as far as Acer could tell, Scortia had no offspring - certainly not with him. "Perhaps we should attend. It says the other dragon tribes are invited, so Xoya wouldn't attack us in public. If we don't attend we may miss something important; important enough for us to be invited. If we bring some large Uugan and both of us attend we'll be sufficiently protected," he proposed.

When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer] Empty Re: When The Fallen Call, Their Cries Go Unheard [Private; Acer]

The dragoness's ear would twitch when she heard Acer's opinion on the matter. She narrowed her eyes a bit, but didn't say much. As a dragoness raised by the Safyz'a and parents who were deeply religious, and ruling a tribe that was a partial theocracy, worshiping the great seven who ruled the world, or the Ki'shan Gods, it was usually frowned upon for someone to not be religious, and usually shamed if they didn't believe in religion at all. Scortia didn't know exactly how religious her mate was, but saw his reaction when she mentioned.

She sat down, her shoulders relaxing a bit when she got some positive feedback from her mate, but her eyes were still a tad narrowed. He had a point. She had been considering what might happen if they refused to come. It could instigate a war. And knowing who the Xoya were, and who their allies were, this was not a good idea, even for a tribe as old and powerful as the Ki'sha. But still. The Kuz'a met Acer's eyes as he spoke.

Then she decided to pitch in, her barbed tail moving back and forth in agitation, The Xoya are a powerful tribe, I'll give them that," she said with a slight growl, "And it merely claims to be a message to all the tribes. Again, we are not aware if this is a trap, they could have said that the other tribes were invited, when in reality, they were not, and they were merely baiting us...." The amphiptere held a hooked wing claw up to her chin, thinking, "But on the other wing, the Xoya have not contacted us formally in over 1,000 years. Why would they contact us now, out of the clear blue? I also would desire not to instigate a war with them. It could be... disastrous...."

The Kuz'a was conflicted. Perhaps she needed to wait. The Gods might reveal more to them if they waited a tad longer.
