Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Katyusha Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:40 am

It was an unusually warm day in the mountains of Layrian, as Katyusha would soar over the snow capped mountains, her eyes barely recognizing anything down below. Everything had been so quiet lately. It was almost as if her tribe had gone into hibernation. The ruler had been despondent lately, and most of her fellow citizens she had talked to had been evasive and avoided confrontation. It was all very strange to the young, tempered artist.

After a while of confusion, she had just shrugged her shoulders. Why should she care what the rest of her tribe was up to? It wasn’t like she needed to concern herself with any of the political affairs. She was just a Sai, after all. She had no business in that kind of stuff. She just went along with what her commanding officers told her.

Now, she had decided to take a quick flight Cashara’s Lake. It had always been a beautiful place to visit. It was one of the largest lakes in Layrian, and its shore was covered in pine trees, always coated with a sleek layer of snow. The lake itself was usually frozen over, but in different layers. The shallow areas of the lake were usually frozen solid, while the center and the deepest areas were usually only covered in thin layers of ice.

There were also a variety of breathing holes, where seals would poke their heads up. Always a pleasant meal for a hungry, passerby Kaamil looking to catch a quick bite.

The dragoness would take a deep breath, as she swooped down to the snow covered shore. The sun was high today, and there was very few clouds in the sky. She felt her paws sink into the soft snow, causing her to let out a small noise of surprise. Usually, the snow up here wasn’t this wet and soft. But she shook her head, and walked over to the lake. It still looked beautiful, glimmering and shining with the sun.

She couldn’t remember the last time she’d been to Cashara’s Lake. Maybe six, seven years ago? Those years all blurred together into a jumble of chaos and her work. She had become so focused on serving the law that she had lost track of time. The dragoness chuckled at the very concept. She gently trod over to the beautiful lake, gawking over it, as she lowered herself into a laying position, admiring it, and attempting to allow herself to relax.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Ken Tue Jun 06, 2017 6:21 pm

The sun, casting its weak light on Kenma, earned a grunt of irritation as he felt the tiniest tendrils of heat seep into his fur-covered body. Typically, the sun and its 'heat' would have no effect on him, absolutely none, as the Kaamil territory was located at a very cold area, where the sun's rays held no warmth, which was just as well, otherwise his fur would capture the heat and drag him down in a puddle of panting and sweat. The thought brought with it a shiver, as he wished not to have that happen to him...but with the rising temperature, it was a possibility. Maybe he could hide somewhere cold?

Kenma continued trudging through the snow, heading towards Cashara's lake. The snow, usually quite hard and easy to walk on, was now damp and squishy, causing his paws to sink deep in with each step he took, slowing his pace considerably. He stared at the snow that parted and crumbled underneath his paw, a frown forming between his eye ridges, as he wondered what the cause of the melting snow could be. Increasing temperature, perhaps? But what could cause the rise of temperature? He sighed, his breath hissing between his teeth and curling in a faint white wisp in front of him, quickly blown away by the chilly wind that constantly roamed the sky in this area.

When he was going to reach Cashara's Lake, he wasn't sure, but it'd certainly take a while. Perhaps he could try flying, he thought, unfurling his wings and successfully detaching his soaked paw from the snow as his wings rose into flight, his progress suddenly increasing rapidly. He was quickly approaching Cashara's Lake, he noted to his delight, his yellow gaze sweeping back and forth, gazing at the tall pine trees, coated in a thick layer of pure white snow, and the massive, uneven circle of a lake, with clear, blue-white water that shimmered with each ripple of the ever-moving water, distorting its reflections of the sky like a glass shattered.

Kenma swooped down, landing neatly on its shores, his paws once again sinking into the snow. He pulled it out, shaking his paw, before looking up, his eyes widening in surprise at the sight of another Kaamil. That was unusual, seeing that he hadn't met any Kaamil for days - their activity levels had dropped, and Kenma had feared that the Kaamil would fade away into nothing. But here she was, a fellow Tribemate, and he stood there uncertainly; never had he been good at approaching people, only at observing. Perhaps she would greet him first?

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Whispering Soul Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:53 am

Esridar swooped over several snow capped forests, their tops glittering in the sunlight, gliding trapped deep in his thoughts. He had been unleader-like lately, unresponsive and basically unreachable. He sighed, what kind of leader was he? Nothing like the ones before him, thats for sure. They probably never left their tribemates feeling abandoned by their leader. Esridar took a tight turn towards Cashara’s lake, he needed to be somewhere quiet, so he could think.

As he flew, he saw two dragons in the distance by Cashara’s lake, feeling no need to interact, he landed on the opposite side of the lake and laid down, watching the numerous breathing holes that seals would pop out of, a perfect snack for a hungry Kaamil. Although he was not there to hunt. He barely noticed the slight heat or the softness of the snow, he was just overjoyed about not being inside the palaces. He had indeed been inside for the past few days, which made many Kaamil think he had become unresponsive. What leader am I to make my tribemates feel like i’ve abandoned them? He thought silently, shaking some snow of his wings. He watched the other dragons, curious to why they were also at the lake. Most Kaamil would stay inside or not go out much when it got warmer, so he was slightly confused, but it didn't bother him. He flicked his gaze to the sky, it was mostly cloudless, which most likely was the cause of the warmer weather. He looked back down to the lake, and laid his head on his paws, watching silently.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Katyusha Wed Jun 07, 2017 1:16 pm

Oh my, this silence was blissful! Thought Katyusha, as she laid her head on her paws, admiring the gorgeous view of the wintery wonderland. Looking at the spanning beauty of the lake, and how it seemed to stretch forever, she would faintly recall her old history lessons, and what she had been taught about the lake. Apparently, it had been named after some old noble who discovered it, some adviser of Kyridin or something? Maybe some Kainura from a long time ago. Honestly, Katyusha couldn’t be bothered to remember these kinds of pointless details. She had too many of her own problems to worry about, let alone concern herself with the history of a bunch of dead old dragons from who knows how long ago.

As Katyusha would lay, thinking about her life, she would begin to hear the sounds of wingbeats. Slowly, and lazily, she opened her eyes, and lifted her head. She wasn’t worried about an attack. Most dragons couldn’t survive this far up north, at least, none that weren’t also on her side. And even if they made it this far and were aggressive, they wouldn’t come all the way to Cashara’s Lake. It was too far from most civilization and the palace, being near the outskirts of Layrian. It wasn’t as remote as some of the crystal springs in the mountains farther from Cashara’s Lake, but it was still far.

Just as she had suspected, the dragons that were approaching were clearly of her tribe. One was a dragon she didn’t recognize, and the other was none other than the leader, Esridar. This caused her to sit up in surprise. Despite serving on the police force, she had never actually seen the current Kainura. She had met the previous one, once, but this one had been significantly more reclusive. Actually, the Kaamil in general just felt like they were in a constant state of hibernation. It was honestly ridiculous.

She smirked, watching him fly over to the other side of the lake. Well, so much for her plan of meeting the king. Sighing, she glanced back over at the other dragon. Perhaps he would be entertaining to talk to. The lake was only so interesting alone. And she had been becoming tired of tranquility. Originally, her plan had been to go on a hike when she was done resting, but hikes were always more entertaining with more than one person to come along with you.

Offering a small smile, the eastern dragon would get up, and fly over to where the other dragon was. She let out a low cry, in greeting, “Evening, nice to meet you. Name’s Katyusha. What brings you to the lake?” she asked kindly, though with a hint of spunk and fire in her voice.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Ken Wed Jun 07, 2017 11:48 pm

Kenma sat there in silence, his gaze fixed on the clear waters in front of him, occasionally flicking to the silent female, whose eyes were, too, settled onto the the reflective, shimmery surface of Cashara's Lake. She seemed to have no intention of talking, but that was fine with him; the quiet, uninterrupted by any noises - save for the quiet slosh of water as it lapped at its shores -, brought along with it a peaceful tranquillity, and at last his eyes were beginning to close, the eyelids slipping lower and lower, threatening to plunge him into the darkness of sleep.

But suddenly she spoke, all his earlier sleepiness vanishing in an instant, his eyes flying open and his wandering thoughts coming into focus. He offered a hesitant smile, slowly opening his maw to speak. He had never been good at conversing, preferring to keep to himself...but it wouldn't hurt to try, would it? Even if it ended badly, he could fly back to his home and never emerge ever again. His self-confidence built up brick by brick, at last it was enough for him to speak. Mine's Kenma, he said, in his low, calm voice. Nothing much brought me here, really... Just boredom, and a wish to watch the waters of a lake while sitting in silence. Suddenly, loud wingbeats were heard, and he winced - another dragon was coming, he assumed. It'd be harder for him to muster up the courage to speak... He turned, and his self-confidence shattered: it was Erisdar, the Kainura.

No. He had never been good at speaking around high rankers, much less kingly figures. He froze, eyes widening a bit, praying that he could make a quiet escape without kicking up too much of a fuss. He was on the verge of muttering an excuse, already standing up - only to find that Erisdar had landed quite a distance away from the two, and he sagged slightly in relief, hesitantly sitting down. He noticed the glances the dragoness gave him, and told her quietly, You can speak to him if you wish.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Katyusha Fri Jun 09, 2017 10:05 am

Katyusha would watch the dragon’s body language. She noticed his unease when she spoke to him, an unease that increased when the king made his appearance. She found it kind of cute. The first dragon she meets in like, forever, is an awkward puss and came here for pretty much the same reason she did. She nodded her head, watching the way he fidgeted to make his escape, only to notice the king landing a rather far distance from the two of them. For a moment Katyusha’s gaze would follow him, then she’d turn back to Kenma when he spoke, mentioning she could talk to him.

Upon hearing this, she merely shrugged, “Nah. Not one to hang around royalty. They’re always too professional and stuck up for me. Like, dude, can’t you chill for just five minutes? Honestly, it’s like all the leaders get the life sucked out of them,” she said with a small chuckle. She would adjust herself so she was sitting in a more comfortable position, one where she was sitting sort of at an angle, so she wasn’t sitting side by side to Kenma, but she wasn’t sitting across from him, either.

“And that’s pretty much the same reason I came here. Haven’t you noticed how quiet everyone’s gotten? Gee, it’s like these heating temperatures are sending them into a hibernation, which is ironic, considering that’s the opposite of what rising temperatures should do,” she pointed out with a laugh.

She then got a little more quiet, but not by much, looking out at the beautiful, shimmering lake. She commented with a small smile, “Ah, yeah, I hope these rising temps stop soon. On the bright side, more prey will show up. On the downside, all this beautiful ice and snow will melt. Plus, I can’t stand the heat,” she said with a soft snort. The snow over here was actually slightly more pleasant than where she had landed. She wondered, if they were to go hiking if, the snow within the forested areas would actually be nice, and less wet. Was a possibility.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Artemise Sat Jun 10, 2017 1:56 am

A small chuckle had slipped out from between his teeth before he could even stop it, and a flicker of surprise crossed his face - never had he thought that he'd be laughing so soon, not when he was such an awkward, helpless one. "Heh... That's true..." he responded with a half-smile, nodding in agreement. He'd never had a one-to-one conversation with a royalty before, but from what he'd seen of them, they were mostly quite arrogant and impatient, which was what had scared Kenma away from them, grown his dislike and fear of them. He watched as she adjusted her position, and felt a small flare of happiness - at least she didn't seem intent on escaping his awkward presence.

Well, not yet, but hopefully not anytime soon.

"Yeah... Odd how the Kaamil seem to have deteriorated in activity when the new Leader was selected... Though, they'd already been rolling down in activity even before that." He pointed this out with a quiet thoughtfulness, his shy awkwardness fading a bit when he voiced his thoughts. He ventured, "Is it the change of temperature causing this? Or is it because of the lack of activities? It's like everything has been turned upside down, with the rising temperatures, which you pointed out, and our activity. One goes up and the other goes down." He finished this with a mournful sigh, but did not comment any further on this topic.

"I can't, either," he said, in response to her mention of the heat. "My fur makes it worse... It'll capture heat and make me sweat horribly. I wish I didn't have fur," he said, his tone not one bit whiny or complaining, just sad. Wistful. "Would you trade the snow for Kaamil's increase in activity?" he asked suddenly, flicking his gaze to Katyusha, but he quickly returned his gaze to the waters rippling in front of him. He'd never been good at eye contact. And probably never will.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Katyusha Mon Jun 12, 2017 1:06 pm

Katyusha’s smile would turn to a grin when she noticed the dragon standing next to her smile a bit. The reason she smiled so much was because it was amusing to watch his reaction. He acted surprised by his own smile, as if it was something he didn’t do too often. This only succeeded in making Katyusha seemingly all the more drawn to him. She listened intently as he spoke his mind about the way things had currently been going, especially with their current leader and political system, speaking about how everything seemed to have gotten a lot slower since the king’s arrival into power.

Well, it certainly wasn’t every day you met someone who shared the same political views as you. Not that Katyusha really had any political views. She either liked the current leader, or she didn’t. It was certainly entertaining watching the nervous dragon go from awkward to slightly more passionate, as he moved his talk over from personal view of the current monarch, to his views on activity and his own thoughts about the rising temperatures. The icy eastern dragon would nod her head in understanding, flicking her tail almost dismissively, as if everything he had just said was super obvious.

“I know, right? I could really go for some party, you know? Just to spice things up! A party, or like, festival, would be really nice. Maybe someone could get the gods to make the temperature colder while they’re at it, you know?” Katyusha said, adding the last part in as a joke, jokingly elbowing Kenma in the side. Katyusha wasn’t really a religious person. No, she preferred to stay away from that crap, just like she stayed away from politics. But she did get a kick out of making jokes about it. I mean, how couldn’t you? There was so much good joke material, it was hard to just pass it up.

Katyusha was beginning to like her decision to come up here. Not only had she been able to get some much deserved peace and quiet, but she also had met a fellow Kaamil that was rather enjoyable to talk to. It was also colder up here than it had been back in the city. Man, had in been unbearable. It was certainly a relief. All the Kaamil she had talked to recently had been very grumpy and very standoffish. Like, guys, calm down. Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean your grandma died. She had just found the city to be too annoying, and so she was taking the free time she had to go enjoy herself. Not like her boss was going to do anything about it. There hadn’t been any crime, after all, and anything that wasn’t an internal struggle wasn’t her job.

When Kenma commented sadly about his fur, changing the subject, Katyusha looked back over at him from where she had been staring at the lake. It caused her to look him over. It did occur to her that he had fur. She had just assumed those were feathers. How odd. He also appeared to have feathered wings. His feathers and fur were a beautiful mix of white and silver. He was also slightly taller than Katyusha by about 12 feet or so. Truly, a beautiful dragon, she thought to herself, smirking a bit.

Her face then contorted in horror when he said his next words. “Man, I would take the cold over activity any day. If my fellow tribe members are a bunch of babies that hide when it gets hot, then who needs them, you know? Besides, it would certainly make my job easier. I rather enjoy the peace and quiet nowadays, even if I seem annoyed by the lack of things happening,” Katyusha was say wistfully, staring up at the crystal clear sapphire sky. She did notice how Kenma would stare at her for a moment, almost as if to make eye contact, but he quickly turned away, almost as if embarrassed. She decided to just ignore this, though. At least, she decided she’d ignore it for now.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Artemise Tue Jun 13, 2017 5:20 am

Kenma was pleased to find that the dragoness - Katyusha, she said her name was; quite a unique name, with a nice (fun?) ring to it, though he had trouble admitting it to himself - did not seem impatient or bored with his near-constant awkwardness, shy way of speaking, or inability to keep up a conversation for long. He listened as she spoke in her clear voice, glad that there was someone between the two of them who was more outgoing, able to keep the conversation from dropping dead and tumbling into the grave. He nodded as she voiced her opinions, unable to keep a yelp from hissing through his teeth when she elbowed him in the sides, but managed to huff out a laugh, saying,"Indeed... Maybe I should visit a temple later on and pray for more snow..." his tone half joking, half serious - it was hard to decide which, for his face was straight.

He had never been good at making jokes, the few times he did usually trailing off into awkward silence, before his conversation partners would switch topics, quite hastily. Rarely did they ever come back to talk to him ever again. But this dragoness was different, and he was glad, glancing at her as inconspicuously as possible, admiring her slim eastern-dragon style of body, curled up into several loops. And those antlers, protruding from her head. It looked odd, yet it matched her. Quickly he flicked his gaze back to in front of him, gazing at the reflection of the sky, thanking whatever heavenly forces up there that had compelled him to come to Cashara's Lake that day. He felt her gaze on him, and wondered what came to mind when one looked at him - many had told him that he had a shy, adorable look, and he hadn't believed them, quickly moving away with a muttered excuse.

He could literally hear the horror in her voice when she spoke, and huffed out another breathy laugh, fading away into silence when he noticed the odd lack of white mist in front of him. Indeed, the climate had changed quite a lot, and, noticing this, worry started to gnaw at his mind, but he pushed it away, telling himself not to focus too much on his worry. Or he'd mess up his conversation with this dragoness, Katyusha, who he was trying desperately to, in front of her, not appear as a hopeless noodle. "You speak sense," he said, surprised at how good her reasoning was. "Indeed, who would want a bunch of 'babies', as you call them, cowering in their homes at every change in their normal, everyday lives... But I find the silence unsettling... While I wish for peace, it seems rather unusual for the Kaamil to be this quiet..."

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Whispering Soul Wed Jun 14, 2017 12:14 am

Esridar watched the two dragons for a few moments before turning to the lake. He had a interest in conversation but unsure if it would be proper to intrude in another conversation. Besides, it would do him good to talk to dragons who weren't as stuck up as some of the high ranking Kaamil. Esridar stood, stretched and began to walk over thinking of what to say. Talk of the weather would be a good starting topic I guess. It is quite warm.

Esridar huffed slightly, increase in temperatures made some Kaamil irritable, and he didn't enjoy the slushy feeling of the soft snow under his paws. He preferred to walk on solid snow and ice, not half frozen snow which clung to his scales and feathers along his back and wings. When he got over to them while they were talking about how quiet it had been in the Kaamil.  “Weathers a bit out of wack today isn't it?” He sighed, shaking snow of his paw. “I’m hoping it’ll snow soon, get the Kaamil out of their homes instead of hiding from this weather.” He said softly. “How are you two doing on this uncomfortably warm day?” He finished.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Katyusha Thu Jun 15, 2017 8:49 am

Katyusha would offer a nod, continuing to smile over at Kenma as she spoke. Though, considering his avoidance for eye contact, Katyusha only sort of watched him for a moment, before staring back over the partially frozen waters of Cashara. The way they glistened and shined like this in the sunlight wasn’t a sight very many dragons were blessed to see, considering it was usually much colder, and any splotches of water across the icy surface that there was now, usually weren’t there to begin with. It was usually too cold to actually go swimming, unless you were one of those ice dragons immune to the cold. Sure, most ice dragons were resistant to the cold, but they weren’t usually immune to it.

She laughed a bit when he made the prayer joke. Ah, so she hadn’t just been being awkward when she did that. Good to know, she said to herself, making a mental note that this dragon seemed to share a similar sense of humor. She was actually quite enjoying herself out here. It was peaceful, relatively quiet, and she had someone to talk to. It is said any sane dragon can only go so long without social interaction, even those who claimed they were better off alone. And even though Katyusha enjoyed her peace and quiet, she was still an extrovert at heart, and loved talking to people. Well, as long as they didn’t annoy her.

Though, from what she could pick up from Kenma, he did seem to have a slightly different view of how he wanted to interact with others than she did. She couldn’t explain it. And the fact she couldn’t explain it bugged her. She would listen to him comment about how, although he found the peace nice, he was unnerved by the Kaamil’s lack of activity. Katyusha rolled her eyes at this, sighing, though mostly to herself. Mostly thinking about what Kenma had said directed towards the Kaamil not liking the introduction of something strange and unusual.

“Most dragons don’t like when things are out of the norm. But hey, things going out of the norm is a part of life, and I for one, find it quite invigorating. Well, at least when those things provide more of a rush. Rising temperatures is just annoying,” Katyusha would say with an absentminded flick of her tail, staring up at the sky. The sun was still blistering and hot, though not as hot as it had been. She squinted her eyes a bit, though, from the bright light. Curse you, sun, for bringing life and heat. Unwanted heat, anyway.

Her attention, however, was averted back to the other side of the lake, when she noticed a bit of movement out of the corner of her eye. Sure enough, Esridar, their Kainura, was beginning to take flight from the other side of the lake, and it appeared he was coming over to where they were. Katyusha wasn’t entirely sure how she felt about this. She wasn’t one for formality, and hadn’t really spoken to the Kainura before. She awkwardly adjusted her sitting position so she was slightly more upright, as she watched him approach.

When he landed, Katyusha would give a small bow. You know, enough to show you sort of respected them, but not anything one of their loyal henchmen would do or anything like that. Sort of like how you would approach somebody you didn’t care about, but knew they could have you fired if you did the wrong thing. She didn’t care for politics, but she had enough common sense to at least be respectful towards the leader.

Lifting her head up, she would offer an almost fake smile. Luckily, she was in a good mood from talking to Kenma, so that’s why it was almost fake. “Hello, your Majesty. So strange to see you out by Cashara’s Lake. Yes, the weather has been acting pretty strange lately, hasn’t it?” she said with a small sigh, closing her eyes a bit, pretending to be in thought, when in reality she was just thinking about how to ask Kenma if he’d like to go on a hike with her. She opened her eyes once more, staring over at Kenma, wondering what his reaction to the king’s approach would be.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

Post by Artemise Thu Jun 15, 2017 8:07 pm

Kenma was finally allowing himself to relax, smiling and laughing much more easily than he did when he first arrived, returning Katyusha's smile each time she offered one. He found her interesting, outgoing but not too chatty, and did not give him any pressure to fill up the silence that came occasionally, and when it did, both would remain quiet for a while, allowing the peaceful lack of noise - save for the soft sounds of the moving water - to wash over them, speaking up only when they had something to say. Hearing her laugh, ringing out sweet and clear, he felt his cheeks warm, and to anyone looking at him, there would be a faint hue of pink across his cheeks, quickly fading. He had never made anyone laugh before, and it felt him with a surprisingly pleased feeling, glad that the cheerful sound was partly caused by him.

He found his mind running through the many different personalities of dragons he'd met, and some of them were as quiet and shy as he was, though surprisingly passionate about what they liked, while some were as outgoing as Katyusha, but were obnoxiously loud, regarding him with expectant eyes each time they fell silent, as if waiting for him to start up conversation again. Which he couldn't, and each memory of a failed conversation brought him embarrassment, which he quickly stamped down on, not wishing to ruin his current mood. Again he smiled a bit, pleased at the fact that he'd found someone who could bear his presence.

He also liked how Katyusha spoke the truth, sometimes voicing out what he personally thought. "Well," he began in his thoughtful manner, "some are like me, really shy and terrified of things as they already are; imagine what would happen to them if the thing they were scared of changed? Uh, like, I...tend to stay away from other dragons, and if the weather suddenly changes, like, uh, turns bad, I'd have no one to turn to for comfort, and...yeah." He hoped that she got what he meant. He did have his own thoughts, but frequently found it hard to put it into words, another problem that hindered him from conversing easily with others.

His confidence vanished when loud wingbeats - he wondered if anyone nowadays could fly silently - drew his attention to the approaching figure of the Kainura, coming his way. He stood, muttering a lame excuse about being closer to the lake, and hurriedly seated himself on the other side of Katyusha, wishing to be as far away as possible from those Royals. He noted Erisdar's use of the word 'uncomfortably', and once again thought of Royals and their stuck-up manner, their proper way of speaking, of doing things... And found himself inching away. "Doing fine, Your Majesty," he murmured, wanting to quickly exit the scene but not doing so, as he didn't really want to leave Katyusha.

Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil] Empty Re: Toiling Through Strange Times [Open/Kaamil]

The dragoness would listen to Kenma, nodding her head. He seemed to be growing more confident as he spoke. Maybe because he was talking around somebody who seemed to share his ideas? Regardless of the reason, Katyusha found herself actually quite enjoying his feeling of empowerment. It made her feel good to know that others felt confident and happy in her presence, even if it was just by a small margin.

And then that happiness seemed to fade when the king arrived. Oh well, it had been fun while it lasted, she thought to herself, trying to conceal a frown. She saw how ridged Kenma seemed to go when his Majesty arrived. Poor Kenma. And she had been enjoying their conversations, too. She wondered if he’d be the same person to talk to now that the Kainura had showed up and made things awkward. Then again, it wasn’t really his fault. Having a position of power often leads to others treating you differently, or acting different around you.

But just because the king was here, that wouldn’t stop Katyusha from asking Kenma out to go hiking. Looking back at him, she smiled, nudging slightly closer to him so he wouldn’t freak out because the king was here. “Say, I was wondering. It’s pretty hot just sitting out here, so I thought I’d ask you if you’d want to go on a hike with me. I hear it’s much colder in the mountains than down by the lake. It might be nice, you know, just you and me and some time to talk.” said Katyusha with a wink.

Hesitantly she turned back to the king, “Though, I was wondering. Do you know when the Fenin Valerce is suppose to be held, your Majesty? I heard the festival is coming up soon. Man, I could really go for a masquerade. Would really liven things up around here.” Katyusha said with a grin, sending a darting glance over at Kenma to see how he was doing.

Soon I hope, a few dragons in the court want me to wait for when it cools. I don’t know what they are expecting, a drop of temperature in the summer? He sighed. “I will see if I can convince them otherwise, and you’re right, a masquerade would defiantly get dragons out of their homes hiding from the heat.” He casually laid down, hoping that the snow beneath him would cool him off. Esridar noticed how Kenma began to act more ridged. He turned to Kenma, unable to keep the question to himself.

What is the matter?” Esridar asked in confusion, he wondered if his arrival had made things awkward for the two. He only wanted to have a friendly chat. I wish that some of the tribe didn't think me of me differently than a normal ranking dragon. He thought wistfully, but what could he do? Probably only hope that they would start treating him less like a stuck-up royal , not that the two he was chatting him were treating him like that, and more like a everyday friendly dragon.

Am.. I making things uncomfortable for you two? I-I can leave if you want me to.” He stuttered slightly, blinking in surprise. He didn’t expect Kenma to act so differently when he arrived.
(Sorry for the reeeaaallly late reply, I've been having trouble with the posting, this is my third attempt to post so I hope i've fixed whatever was happening. I think its client-side)
