Caramina, the Healer Empty Caramina, the Healer

Personality and the Basics

Name: Caramina Zynumus
Gender: Female
Type: Eastern/western dragon hybrid.
Species: Mountain River dragon
Age: 532
Date of Birth: September 22
Personality: Caramina has a warm, generous personality that is hard not to like, and because of this, she has many friends, though she only confides in a select few. She is the type who rarely takes risks, preferring to stay safe, and can be described as the obedient rule-follower. Don't mistake her for boring, though; she's very playful, often teasing and poking others, and can take a joke (or even make one herself). Cara is also a bit of a daydreamer and is easily distracted at times, tending to lose focus in the middle of a book - no matter how interesting - and starting to daydream, whether it is of the characters in the book she's reading, or of something else entirely (flying, for example). Unfortunately, she can also space out in the middle of conversations. It's rare, though.

Caramina is extremely reliable, though, and will never let you down. Good to her word, she never breaks a promise. She displays good teamwork qualities, but finds it impossible to lead as she cannot function under stress. Most think that she can't fight, but oh no, she most definitely can. She can get overly protective, and is as fierce as a mother bear when the lives of her loved ones are threatened.
Hobbies:
- Reading novels
- Studying / practicing other languages
- Gathering herbs and practicing her medical skills on injured animals
Likes:
- READING
- Cold weather
- Herb-gathering
- Caring for hatchlings / young dragons / animals
- Drifting through the sky while contemplating life
Dislikes:
- Hunger
- Books being mistreated
- Fights between friends or family
- Hot weather - the type that makes you sweat
- Those who don't know how to handle books properly
Fears:
- Starvation
- Becoming an exile

Origin, Culture, and Family

Place of Origin: Verula
Tribe: Stormcaller
Position: Scholar
Language: Fluent Universal, Kenarun and Vuarish; learning Kishin, and near mastering Urisa. She can both speak and write Xoyan. She's a Scholar for a reason, you know
Home: A small, cozy cave set into a mountain that is just outside the tempest ring. There is a ledge jutting out from the mountain, conveniently starting at the entrance of her cave, so one can easily land on the ledge and walk to her cave.
Parents: NPC Xoyans
Siblings: Rihzome, her long-lost brother. Currently looking for him.
Relatives: N/A
Mate: She's looking for one.
Offspring: . . .
History: OPTIONAL! Caramina's history is pretty similar to Rihzome's, since they're both siblings. Their mother was a Eastern chaos dragoness, and also a Spion, and their father was a western shadow dragon, a Xoyan Scholar. Caramina inherited her mother's silver/white scales and a bit - just a tiny bit - of her chaos abilities. She can manipulate wind as well, and this is suspected to be inherited from her grandmother, who could do the same. Anywayyyy, when Rihzome deserted the Xoyans, Her parents said that he was killed in action, but she refused to believe it, clinging on to a tiny thread of hope that he was still alive. The Xoyan government wiped her memory and she slowly, through will and determination alone, regained some of her memories of him, mustered courage and fled.

Physical Appearance and Accessories

Caramina, the Healer A836cdc64affe4ca63ae6c5b58054d54

[Credits of this wonderful piece of art to whoever drew it.]

Height: Standing on her hind legs: 67 feet tall, but can raise herself up to 70 feet if she wishes to.
Length: 89 feet, thanks to her long tail.
Wingspan: 84 feet each; 168 total.
Scale/Fur/Feathers: Tough white skin, which is as smooth as scales.
Eyes: Very dark green.
Accessories: Sometimes, she's seen sporting a green scarf - its colour similar to her eyes - around her neck, usually during a cold day. Or a brown satchel containing herbs, hanging around her neck, though usually she's not wearing anything.
Armor: She doesn't wear armour, but she does own a helmet, a triangular chest plate, and a set of metal claws, all of which are dark grey metal.
Horns/Spikes: She has only a set of horns, located on her head. Believe it or not, the "horns" below them are ears. Not horns.
Overall Appearance: Caramina is what you would call extremely pretty in a fragile way, and delicate-looking, easy to break. She has a small head and a long, slender body with a plated underbelly. Her most prominent feature is her green mane; consisting of long, silky strands, they make up a long mane which starts from the top of her head all the way to the end of her tail, going from long to short as it nears her tail. Her feathered wings are inherited from her western dragon father, while her eastern-dragon-like body is inherited from her mother.

Abilities and Strengths

Abilities: Caramina is an expert wielder of wind magic. She can call upon light breezes, or strong gales, and manipulate them as she wishes, like:

- Protective ball
Like its name suggests, she can wrap the wind around herself to form a protective ball to protect against all outside forces. Sadly, she can only hold the ball for one post, and while it protects her, she can't really touch them - that is to say, she can't attack them with anything other than her other wind abilities. Opponents can also slam the ball into the ground, or bounce it around, dizzying her. Fire will heat up the ball and cause her to sweat; other wind magic can easily shatter her orb; strong attacks can easily wear down her ball's walls into nothing.

Hostile Winds
Caramina can also use the wind to attack, causing wounds of all shapes of sizes, like the gashes caused by claws marks, or a long cut caused by a large blade, or even millions of tiny paper cuts on the unprotected parts of a scaled dragon. While those travel at a pretty high speed (50mph at least, if not boosted with wind), they travel in a straight line, making it easy to dodge if the opponent sees her perform the attack; however, her hostile wind attack is invisible, visible only to her own eye in an arc of light grey. She can increase or decrease the thickness of her wind shields, depending on how much wind she's "used" to form that shield.

Defensive Shield
Name says it all. It has about as much resistance as the average metal shield, only 20% tougher and is much lighter. The shield(s) will immediately appear the moment she wills it to. It's 15 feet wide and 100 feet tall, and unlike her ball, which wraps around her, the shield only protects the front area. She can use it to protect herself or three people at once - it becomes a wall if it has to protect at least three dragons. It can reach a maximum height of 150 feet and a maximum length of 100 feet, no larger. She can also break the wall into several pieces so that she can move freely while the others are protected, instead of huddling behind a wall while praying that it doesn't break. Her wind shields are hers to command, and she can move them around as she wishes, though she can pass the control of one particular shield to another dragon, and it becomes theirs, though she can snatch the control back from them.

The more it stretches, the thinner it is, like a rubber band. At its normal size it can take a maximum of fifty hits before breaking. With every five feet it expands, the number of hits it can take goes down by two. Breaking her shield into several smaller bits, however, will not affect it, unless they are expanded in size, meaning that even if her, say, 100 feet tall shield breaks into two fifty feet shields, they'll both be able to take fifty hits each, and will still take fifty hits if expanded all the way to 100; the 'weaker when stretched' concept applies to split shields that expands past 100 feet tall. She can make a maximum of three shields, all at the same size, and expand or shrink them [which won't make them stronger]; and she can split shields into ten bits altogether.

She can also use the wind for other purposes, like to slow down an enemy to delay them, or to check for other dragons nearby using echolocation. E.G Her wind can tell her that there's a particularly large dragon standing 23 feet away from her, hiding in a tree, but that's about it. Her wind can also be used to move small stuff about - if their weights are lesser than 20kg.
Strengths:
Mental:
- She can work well with others, as she's patient, is as caring a healer should be - way more than that, actually - and has the ability to understand others: their personalities, what they truly need, what they want.
- She is strong-willed and can usually see through illusions; it is hard to break her mentally.
Physical:
- She is very skilled in flying. Not only is she able to fly fast (reaching a speed of 100mph is she really tries, though she can't keep at that speed for long, lasting for only one post before having to slow down to 20mph), but she's also capable of performing complicated aerial maneuvers to confuse.
Weaknesses:
- She feels pain more acutely than scaled dragons. A scratch on a dragon's scale wouldn't even itch - but Caramina would be able to feel the pain.
- Her wings are like sponges; once they absorb water, they'll be heavy, wet and useless and will take quite a while to dry out - unless wrung dry.
- The hair along her back is, unfortunately, flammable. Not to mention that sometimes her hair gets into her face.
- She is delicate-boned; her bones are light like a bird's, and are easily crushed or snapped.
- Her feathers are very sensitive. Pierce them and she'll feel twice the pain.
- She has low endurance, meaning, she cannot withstand physical attacks against her body for long.
- She finds it hard to distinguish between truth and lie. In the hands of an enemy, they can lie to her all they like; it's likely that she won't be able to tell which is truth and which is a lie.
Fighting Style: Aerial combat, with wind and illusion magic.
Magic:
- Illusions (Chaos ability)
She can create illusions, but not the type where you see something you aren't seeing; instead, she makes others feel something. She can make a dragon feel the pain of a large stab wound, or uncontrollable itchiness all over the body, or a vomiting sensation. She can do this to anyone within a three-meter radius, though she can only do it to only one dragon at a time, but there is a way to stop her. Pain. Real or illusionary pain, either one is fine; it'll strip away her illusions, and her "victim" will stop feeling the pain. Often, it's easy to figure out that the pain is not real, but only the strong-willed can manage to actually break her illusion and stop feeling the pain. Caramina won't be able to use her illusion abilities on those who've broken past it once.

- Emotion Enchantment (Chaos ability)
She's quite sensitive to the emotions of others, and can usually get a vague idea of what they're feeling. She can't fully control the emotions of a dragon, but can influence others to feel what they're not feeling just by talking to them, and usually she uses this to cause chaos and aggression. Usually this process works with eye contact, and she slips in her 'magic' into her words, convincing them that they're feeling that way. This doesn't really work all the time; someone butting into their conversation will reduce the effect by 30%, same goes for distractions that will cause her to cut off.

She can also influence others' feelings without talking to them. By simply focusing on the dragon, she can reduce or increase the intensity of their emotion; or push it into something else entirely. This doesn't work if the dragon knows that she's changing their emotions; but if they know and allow her to do it, they will be influenced. This doesn't work all the time; it's a 50-50 chance.

Same goes for the atmosphere. She can change an awkward, hostile atmosphere and ease it into a gentle, easygoing one just by talking. Everyone can do this, changing the atmosphere with words, but she does it better than anyone else.

Personality: "Motherly dragon" would be the best way to describe Caramina. Recently she's taken up the healing arts, but while her skills aren't that good yet - she does make errors every now and then, sometimes big, big errors that no healer should make - she does have the gentleness and patience of a healer, and has a warm, generous personality that often makes it hard to stay mad at her. She is the type of dragon who rarely takes risks, preferring to stay safe. While she isn't the type who'd go around breaking rules, she tends to be a bit (read: pretty) playful at times, though she never gets rough. Her type of 'playful' would be to tease hatchlings. Most would call her a indoorsy dragon as she prefers being indoors than outdoors. She does like gathering herbs and flying, but she stills prefers wandering indoors - unless the weather outside is chilly. She is also a bit of a daydreamer and is easily distracted at times, tending to lose focus in the middle of a book - no matter how interesting - and starting to daydream, whether it be of the characters in the book she's reading, or of flying. Unfortunately, she tends to space out in the middle of conversations, often earning her confused or often irritated glances from others.

Caramina tends to worry too much and is paranoid over small things most wouldn't like leaving stuff behind, and can spend five minutes checking, double-checking and triple-checking that she hasn't left anything behind. She is also tactless at times, especially when trying to get someone to fess up to something. Caramina is extremely reliable, though, and will never let you down. Good to her word, she never breaks a promise. She displays good teamwork qualities, but finds it impossible to lead as she cannot function under stress. Hostile winds- welllll....the wind is capable of causing large cuts, remember? It can also push them back.

Defensive shield- yes, it's instantly built.

Wind stuff- She can check for other nearby dragons by using echolocation.

Illusions- pain inflicted onto her.

Hostile winds:
Is this attack visible? How fast does it go max?

Protective shield: you said she could break it into smaller pieces, so she can make multiple shields? How strong are they? Same with ball.

The attack is visible - an arc of grey-white - and her shield(s) and protective ball are 30% stronger than the average iron armour.

Added:

She can increase or decrease the thickness of her wind shields, depending on how much wind she's "used" to form that shield.

"She can also influence others' feelings without talking to them.

Everyone can do this, changing the atmosphere with words, but she does it better than anyone else."

These last two don't make much sense. If understanding their emotions, then it voids the ability altogether.

And your last one sounds like complete weather manipulation.

Atmosphere, as in the mood of a place.

"If understanding their emotions, then it voids the ability altogether."

What do you mean? How does understanding their emotions void the ability? She can understand their emotions, and she can also influence them. No voiding happening?
