What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Tue Aug 01, 2017 2:12 am

First topic message reminder :

It was.. Hot. Hotter then she expected. Or maybe that was just her Ice Wyvern blood talking. The humid heat was washing over her like a wave over sand, heating her till she was at boiling point. At any moment, Athena half expected to burst into flames. She wouldn't be surprised, considering her luck.

Her feathers were damp with sweat, leaning over each other to press against her back, their once bright cyan colour reduced to a dark blue. Her breaths no longer came out in misty white clouds, no, the air she was breathing out was warm too. Great. The wind brought no cold, and the sand that was swept up from the ground stung her eyes like a thousand bees. Why? You're probably asking. Why, in the name of the Gods, is she out here?

Curiosity.

Yes, it was curiosity that led Athena to the borders of the Ki'Sha. She was wandering along one of their edges, wondering how savagely she would be torn apart of she so much as stepped into their lands. The Ki'Sha weren't like their peace loving neighbors, the Stormcallers, but they weren't very nice either. It was a hard life, only the strongest survived.

Funny, that was rather appealing to her.

If one had looked, they would, have seen a white Wyvern, sticking out like a sore thumb against the sandy dunes, looking rather weakened from the heat, staring into the territory of the Ki'Sha as she paced their borders. A rather strange sight, one might say.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Sat Dec 30, 2017 3:42 am

As her ex-opponent departed from the barracks, a gleaming body of blue caught her eye. The wyvern turned her head slightly, and her eyes landed on a familiar face. Ayato. Her gaze drifted over his toned form, lingering on the bandage wrapped around his stomach that stood out against the dark blue scales. At least he survived, uttered a tiny, meek voice inside her head. Of course he did, she scoffed inwardly. He's an Aliugaan. He's no weakling. She turned her head away again, although she watched him out of the corner of her eye as he strode over towards some familiar dragons.

While they spoke, Athena debated on whether or not to come over. She wasn't friends with any of them, far from it. Still, they were her group, and it looked like they were going to be stuck with each other for a while longer at the rate their training was going... Taking a deep breath, Athena mustered her courage. Socialising was never her strong point. She was more of a 'bash their head in and ask questions later' type. She didn't have Amalyn's silver tongue. Still, she knew she may as well get to know her group members at least a tiny bit.

Biting her tongue, she turned and approached. She noticed Ventarros point at her, and narrowed her eyes at him as she approached them from behind Ayato. Okay, maybe less mean looks... She tried to relax her face, but she ended up looking dopey, and so resorted to her usual stone cold mask of indifference. "...What about her?" Ayato was demanding, looking a bit confused. "She just walked out of a spar, you might want to check on her," was the reply the blue male received.

"I'm fine," she said stiffly, stopping next to Ayato. She kept around three talonsteps between them, for fear of looking informal or too comfortable around her superior. She knew blood was starting to trickle down her shoulders in thin little stripes, but she ignored the faint stinging.

Now she was here, she had no idea what to do. She shifted on her feet, avoiding eye contact with anyone. What do I do? Maybe I should just turn and fly back to my house and hide for the next two weeks. Her talons clenched in emotional discomfort. Her eyes wandered over her teammates, who she had been in battle with less than four days ago, and still knew nothing about.

Oh good gods, I'm terrible at this. Storm was her only friend at the moment. They had met when she was sparring with a dragon she now knew was called Gray, -ugh, saying his name made her want to tear open someone's throat- and he had joined in. That was easy. They had been doing something. Conversation came naturally. This? This was just... awkward, for her. Athena swallowed thickly, trying not to show her wavering nerves. Maybe I should just run away and hide.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Artemise Wed Jan 03, 2018 2:20 am

Ventarros had stated plainly, "She just walked out of a spar, you might want to check on her." It took Ayato a moment to process the Ugaan's words, and when he did, he found himself irrationally reluctant to do so. Well, perhaps not irrationally, he attempted to reasom with himself. It was just that their relationship had reached to the point where they felt comfortable enough to hang out with each other, then when they weren't, refused to acknowledge the other's existence.

He settled on a "I already did a quick check on her when I came in," and averted his gaze, staring past the burly male's shoulders. His expression somewhat resembled that of a defiant child refusing to apologise, which Ventarros wisely decided not to comment on.

Ayato eyed Athena sceptically when she came to his side, noting the rivulets of blood that ran down her side, but as usual with-held his comments. He only shrugged and let her be, looking at Amalyn, then Tophi, Larkum, and back at Ventarros. Doing a silent head count. He couldn't help but run an eye over their bodies again, as if wounds had magically opened.

Tophi looked uncomfortable, and poked at the silence that hung heavily over them, "So anyone up for truth or dare?"

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Wed Jan 03, 2018 6:02 am

The wyvern didn't make further comment on Ventarros and Ayato's brief conversation about her, actually appreciating it when the latter didn't show any worry or sympathy in his response. Something about Athena didn't scream 'damsel in distress,' nor did she want to be treated like one. Actually, several things about Athena didn't scream 'damsel in distress,' from her thick, muscular physique to her disfiguring scars to the steely expression in her cold eyes. Her attitude, as well.

She noticed when the Aliugaan adverted his eyes, staring past Ventarros' heavy shoulders with a funny expression on his face. Almost childish. What's wrong with you? she wanted to demand. Smell a rat? Although she kept her mouth shut. They'd grown… somewhat adjusted to each other's company, but Ayato was still her superior, and could punish her if she stepped out of line. So far, he'd been pretty tolerant, but she didn't want to push him so far as to get her head mounted on a stake.

Tophi's voice pierced the silence that had begun to set in. Truth or dare? her inner voice echoed. Athena cast an apprehensive glance at Amalyn, who also looked a bit skeptical. She didn't know what sort of embarrassing questions that silver tongued dragoness could come up with, and certainly didn't want them directed at her.

"Truth or dare?" Amalyn said, arching an aubergine eyebrow. Her voice was laced with threads of amusement and disgust, a strange mix. "Isn't that a hatchling's game?" she asked. Larkum shot her a sharp look before nudging his sister. "Good idea, Tophi. It'll be a good way to break the ice," he praised, offering her a small, supportive smile. Amalyn rolled her eyes and sighed. "Fine, I'm in." Wonder why she decided to join in, Athena wondered, but didn't ask. Amalyn was… a mysterious character.

Larkum shifted his gaze to Athena, his warm coppery eyes locking with hers. "What about you, Athena?" he asked, keeping his tone friendly but somehow formal at the same time. The wyvern's tail twitched as she considered the offer. On one talon, socialising was never her thing, and she knew she'd come up with terrible dares and questions, but on the other…

Her eyes snapped to each of her teammates. She'd fought back to back with these dragons, heard their screams of agony and bellows or rage, seen their blood splatter across the sand. They'd already been through hell together, and yet she knew nothing about them. Storm would want you to make friends.

Athena gave a leisurely shrug. "Sure."

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Ayato Fri Jan 26, 2018 11:51 pm

There was many things he didn't want to do. One of them being truth or dare, a game he was strongly opposed to taking part in, though spectating would do just fine. As Amalyn had stated, it was a hatchling's game, and he was far from one. He had better things to do, he thought grumpily to himself.

That aside, he knew all too well the dangers of truth or dare: The awkward truths that would be demanded from him, and the ridiculous dares the Ugaans would love to see him perform. Ayato's pride cried fountains of blood at that, but if he declined the offer, then he would doubtlessly be teased as a coward. Amalyn had signed herself up too, after all.

Groaning, he said through gritted teeth, "Fine. Fine, I'm in!" sounding as if he was a sulky child forced to agree to something, even though no one had really done anything to him. His tail flicked from left to right and back again, agitated, and some Ugaans scurried away to avoid the cloud of dust he was kicking up with those movements. Ayato noticed this and gave a guilty start, curling his tail around a leg.

Tophi fidgeted nervously at Ayato's reaction, and began, "It's okay if you don't want to-" but Ayato cut him off with a shake of his head. The blue dragon stared straight ahead as if preparing himself for something, and Tophi couldn't help but find some amusement in that. He shot a smile of relief at Larkum's support, grateful for it in the face of Amalyn's disapproval. "Oh, cool... Yay!" he said, and looked around, his eyes fixing on Athena. Curiously awaiting her answer.

Ventarros lifted a shoulder in a nonchalant shrug. "I don't mind," he said, and settled into a comfortable sitting position. It was evident that he expected this game to last quite a while, and Ayato mirrored his movements, sitting down as well. Like Tophi, Ventarros's and Ayato's eyes flicked to Athena. Waiting for the one remaining Ugaan to give her decision.

Athena seemed to consider it. Then said yes, much to their surprise, and Ayato smiled grimly to himself. He wasn't going to be the only one divulging his secrets, it seemed. "So!" Tophi said eagerly. "Truth or dare, Ayato? Oh, and you can pick someone else after this." The smile slid off his face at being called, and he looked as if his relatives had just died. He also looked as if he was told he was being stripped of his rank as Aliugaan.

"Truth," Ayato said decidedly, and braced himself. "Question incoming in three... two... one..."

"Do you like Athena?" Tophi said sounding rushed. Clearly having wanted to ask this question for a while.

"What? wHaT? No I don't. What a stupid question, I absolutely despise her... Truth or dare, Athena?"

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Sat Jan 27, 2018 1:47 am

Ayato agreed to take part in the game, although the way he gritted his teeth and used a tone that reminded her of a child having a tantrum told any half-wit he was very reluctant to join in. His tail was lashing, sending particles of sand into the air. Ugaans scattered  to dodge the waves of dust, and Athena too held up a  wing to stop it from getting in her eyes. Thankfully, he stopped and settled. Lowering her wing, she shot him an irritated look, before returning her attention to the group in front of her.

Amalyn observed the aliugaan's childish reaction, letting no emotion cross her face, although for a moment both females locked eyes. The black dragon cocked an eyeridge slightly and Athena shrugged in response. Glancing at him, she noticed the way he was gazing ahead as if he were in court, awaiting judgement. He must be waiting for us to strip every ounce of pride he has away, she thought, taking some amusement in that idea.

Seeing the others settle down, she reckoned this was going to be a long game. With a quiet grunt, she sat down, curling her tail up in a loose ball behind her in case anyone walking by pricked themselves on the blades. That would be bad. As she considered her answer, all eyes turned to her, including Larkum and Amalyn's, and her feathers stood up straight at the sudden attention.

Thankfully, once she said yes, everyone stopped staring at her.

Larkum leaned forward when Tophi called out Ayato. Oh no, what has he got planned? Athena wondered, arching an eyeridge. She glanced at the latter and bit back a chuckle at the look on his face. He looked like he wanted to jump off the Ku'za's palace.

"Do you like Athena?" Tophi asked in a voice that told her he'd wanted to ask this for ages. Larkum held a wing in front of her face, giggling. Amalyn's eyeridges shot up, and despite the dark scales she noticed the tiny smirk curling the corners of her lips.

Athena froze. Her feathers stood up and stayed there as if she'd been electrocuted. Her jaws parted slightly. She refused to look at Ayato, not wanting to see the expression he was wearing. She shouldn't have minded or cared, but… but there was this… ugh! She felt her face catch fire and lowered her head slightly, rubbing at her cheek in an effort to cool it. She knew it would be easy to see, thanks to the colour of her stupid scales. No no no no no he does NOT! She looked in the opposite direction of him, not wanting to meet his eyes or let him see her blush.

"What? wHaT? No I don't. What a stupid question, I absolutely despise her... Truth or dare, Athena?" he was saying, and all eyes turned to her. It didn't help the colour of her face. Trying to reel in her emotions, Athena shut her mouth, fixed her expression so it betrayed nothing, and returned her eyes to Ayato.

Oh gods, looking him in the face NOW was just mortifying. Talons curling, she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Dare."
Wait. Whoops. Please don't make it embarrassing.

While she waited for his answer, she shot Tophi a murderous look. The look she was giving him was enough to turn a dragon to stone, blazing with anger. Larkum swallowed thickly and placed her tail in front of her brother, as if that would protect him. Amalyn watched all of this with a hawk's watch, completely still in the group of shifting dragons. She could've been mistaken for a statue save for her eyes, which were taking in everything that went on. They landed on Athena. Clearly she'd seen the wyvern's reaction, having not been totally focused on Ayato's response.

The black dragoness raised a brow, asking a silent question. Athena quickly shifted her gaze back to Ayato.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Artemise Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:19 pm

Horribly late and horribly short- I'm so sorry! --

There had been the briefest flash of uncertainty in his eyes even as he firmly declined feeling any romantic emotion towards Athena, but it was quickly replaced with anticipation of making her suffer with him as he aimed the question at her. Not to anyone's surprise, indicated by Ventarros's satisfied grunt or Tophi's nod, she chose the option of physical movement: Dare. Thoughtfully, Ayato tapped his tail against the hard earth, letting the silence drag, letting her sit in apprehension. He pretended not to notice how Tophi's eyes were eagerly darting between the two, nor how Ventarros looked away in an attempt to hide a small smile. Somewhat irritated now, he said loudly, "Is there something particularly interesting, Tophi, or amusing, Ventarros?"

Hastily both reassured him that no, there was nothing interesting or amusing, but Ayato knew otherwise, and he glared at the two knowingly. Ventarros only shrugged as if to say that it was Ayato's choice to believe what he liked, while Tophi looked sheepish. He looked back towards Athena, and finally said, "Sing, Athena. Any song you want." After all, she did seem like a dragoness of brutality, not of the fragility that songs had with their emotional melodies. It would be interesting to see her attempt to sing.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Sun Apr 15, 2018 6:31 am

(It's alright! :D I'm just happy you got the time to respond ^_^)

Athena hadn't seen the fleeting look of doubt that had appeared in Ayato's eyes, but Amalyn had. She arched a brow, but that was the only reaction she gave to the whole thing. She glanced at Ventarros, and fought a smirk of her own at his amused expression.

Athena watched Ayato's face carefully, gauging his reaction. She too, became annoyed at everyone's reactions. What's so funny? she wondered, unable to fathom why they were suddenly smiling and giggling like dragonets gossiping about crushes. This is stupid, she thought, lashing her tail and sending a small wave of sand scattering over the ground. Oh gods, she could only imagine what Storm would say if he could see her now, blushing because of a... a MALE! He'd never let her live it down.

She hastily shoved down feelings of embarrassment, but the pink still lingered on the sides of her snout. She shot a murderous look at Ventarros and Tophi. She locked eyes with Ayato and listened to his dare. Sing?! her eyes narrowed as her jaws parted to unleash a cone of icy fury at his face, but she held back just as she was about to release unholy hell upon Ayato's visage.

Choking down her icebreath, she bristled like an angry hedgehog, sitting up straight with an indignant expression upon her face. "Why you-" she began, then paused. Whilst beating him up would probably diminish the idiotic assumption that she was ATTRACTED to him, -why did she feel a tinge of doubt when she thought that she wasn't?- it probably wouldn't look good on her record if she was charged with murdering mauling her superior. So she swallowed her pride, and instead settled on giving him a look that said; Later, before she narrowed her eyes.

"Twinkle twinkle little star, I'm going to rip out your throat," she sang, the words clearly directed at him. Larkum snorted, then tried to cover it up by coughing. "Later on when you're alone, I'm going to get my revenge," she continued, the lyrics laced with murderous intent. She then sat back and scowled at Ayato. "There," she growled. "There's your song. I think it's poetic."

She turned her attention to Ventarros. "Ventarros, truth or dare?"

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Artemise Thu May 10, 2018 4:17 am

Ayato predicted Athena's reaction with no difficulty and pinpoint accuracy. As expected, she displayed numerous signs of rage, from which he drew so much amusement and joy. Wisely, Athena was smart enough to restrain herself from freezing off her superior's face, though did so with visible difficulty. He enjoyed watching her seethe, and gave her a sardonic grin, showing some of his teeth mockingly, taunting her to try. "I what?" he asked with fake innocence, tilting his head at her look. I won't let you have a "later", he thought. No way in hell am I going to allow myself to be mauled in private.

And her singing? Ayato also literally saw that coming.

Hearing the lyrics "sung" with clearly no effort, he felt only the slightest twinge of disappointment: While having expected Athena to come up with lyrics that weren't in the least poetic or beautiful, he had been hoping that she would actually try. But of course she wouldn't. Ayato only rolled his eyes in response, seemingly unfazed by her song, and commented dryly, "Oh, I agree. It was the wor- best I've ever heard." Tophi attempted to cover up a snicker, and edged away from Ayato to whisper in Larkum's ear in a very soft voice, "I swear they're a married couple. Or at least, becoming one."

Ventarros wouldn't lower himself to the indignity of gossip, but was curious nonetheless to what Tophi was whispering. But then his name was called, and he snapped to attention instinctively, before remembering this was a game and relaxing. "Dare," he said after a few seconds of consideration. He saw no harm in it, plus what was the worst that could happen?

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Thu May 10, 2018 2:21 pm

His grin. His grin. His teeth shimmered like daggers in the unyielding sun, illuminating the amused look in those dark, dark eyes. Ohhh, she wanted to KILL HIM! Athena opened her mouth, tail lashing like a whip and causing the spikes to rattle, then stopped herself from biting him. Barely. Restraining herself with effort, she took a deep breath, cleared her expression and decided; two could play at this game.

"You're just asking for it,," she said lightly, giving him a grin of her own. If he continued the banter and responded with; asking for what? She would melt her grin into a glare and go; "For my teeth in your backside." She flicked her tail, sending a small wave of sand scattering over his talons. She was careful (and petty enough) to aim in such a way that some of the grains shot up through the air to hopefully hit his scarf, but it was subtle enough to look like an accident.

And at his sarcastic remark regarding her singing, Athena arched a brow and smirked, meeting his eyes. "I'm glad you think so, I made it up just for you." She nearly stuck her tongue out at him, but held back.

Ugh, why was she feeling so competitive around him? Like she wanted to best him in every way possible? There was a fire in her veins that usually only surged in the rush of battle. Ayato annoyed her enough to stoke her fire, make her scales tingle like she was fighting him for control in a fight.

Larkum giggled helplessly for a moment before turning it into a cough. "It's like they're competing to get a reaction out of each other," she whispered back. Her eyes darted between the two, before she sighed softly. "They get so antsy around each other."

Amalyn rolled her eyes, grimacing as if she'd just stepped in grime. She hasn't heard the exact words the twins exchanged, but she knew what they were whispering about. All this talk about love when we've got battles to wage. She glanced at Ventarros, arching a brow when he picked dare.

Athena smiled. "A brave decision. Such a shame some of us," she didn't glance at Ayato but the words were obviously directed at him. "Haven't got the guts." She smirked, eying him out of the corner of her eye. How do you like it now, Chickenboy?

The wyvern considered for a moment, brow inclining as lines appeared in the sides of her face. "I dare you to.." she hummed. Then, an idea popped into her skull. "Find a dragon, any dragon outside of this squad, and act like you're a five year old hatchling and they are your parent.." She lay down, resting her head on the sand as her feathers lowered, a sign of relaxation for her. She was starting to relax around these guys. Her guard was lowering.

"For five minutes," she added. "Someone can time him."

Amalyn huffed, her quiet version of a snort, and trained her eyes on Ventarros, watching his face. The idea of big, strong Venty hopping around going; Mommy! Mommy! Was rather amusing to her.

Athena turned her head slightly and gave Ayato a look that said: I've got far worse dares planned for you. Chicken.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Artemise Fri May 11, 2018 12:12 am

If Athena had been seething previously, then he didn't know how to describe her now. His sardonic grin seemed to be very well received, he thought as he observed the urge to inflict physical harm seize Athena again. No prizes on guessing who the target was. His grin widened, touching his eyes now; the wyvern's own pair had an angry inner flame within them, lighting their fathomless depths with emotion.

Then--all of a sudden, she seemed to calm, her body stilling, though fiery anger was not one bit dulled. In fact, it seemed to flare brighter as she returned his grin. "Asking for what?" he did say, unfazed by her show of teeth. He didn't allow her the satisfaction of "cowering" when he heard her threat, only met her glare with an innocent stare and commented lightly, "That sounds gross," the smile still in place, even as grains of sand flew up under his scarf. They were itchy, but Ayato ignored the discomfort.

"Oh, should I feel flattered? A lowly Ugaan... Devoting a song to me, how unimaginable! I have been blessed," he quipped sarcastically, not breaking the stare. His tail began tapping against the dry, hard-packed earth, this time without stirring up the dust as Athena had, and he angled a superior look at her: This is how it's done. I didn't bother just now, but of course I'm fully capable of tapping my tail without causing someone else to choke on dust. Unlike you.

Tophi couldn't help it; he joined Larkum's giggling, though did a better job of being quiet. Even then, he doubted Ayato would notice him anyway: he was too fixed on Athena, his blue gaze unwavering. Too intent on provoking her, as Athena was with him. "Seems like it," he agreed with Larkum's comment. "It's entertaining," he added, "not to mention... Cute."

Ventarros felt Amalyn's gaze weighing upon him, and looking up, he could feel her disgust and annoyance, and couldn't help a wry smile. He shrugged as if to say the bickering between Athena and Ayato didn't bother him, and it was not like he could stop them anyway. Lest they start to pick on him. He raised a brow at Athena's comment on his "bravery", clearly not meant to flatter him, but rather imply that Ayato was cowardly. Said dragon's expressiom switched to one of annoyance. Athena sure had some guts, Ventarros thought wryly. Then again, this wasn't training, where Ayato would have proceeded to wallop her. This was truth or dare, after all.

Athena's voice broke into his musing, and his relaxed expression stiffened, his eyes widening. "What?" Ventarros said, immediately, in an unnaturally high pitched voice. He'd expected something pointless like "Run three rounds around the entire of Ki'Sha," which, with some difficulty, he could manage, but not one where he was required to shed his dignity! Denial flashed in his eyes, his brows pressed together as he contemplated the horrible thought of acting like a five-year-old. No, no he couldn't do that... nor could he turn down the dare, however. To do so would undoubtedly result in him being viewed as the coward. Gods!

Tophi seemed to be choking, falling onto his back with his wings spread out on each side of him. "Ventarros," he cried, "acting like a five year old. Genius, Athena!" He dissolved into giggles, not bothering to keep it down; there weren't many Ugaans in the barracks now anyway, and Ventarros was too busy being stunned to reprimand him. The burly dragon was opening and closing his maw repeatedly, rendered speechless with shock. Ayato was shaking his head, clearly mourning Ventarros, but part of his attention was still on Athena. She was... beginning to relax, it seemed. About time, he thought. Oh, but she sure didn't relax on taunting him. The message was clear behind her gaze, and he narrowed his eyes. Nothing wrong with choosing truth.

Meanwhile, Ventarros seemed to gather himself, draw in a deep breath, and stood up. Walked towards the entrance of the barracks, and called a name. An Ugaan came in, opening her maw to ask what he needed, but Ventarros was already shrieking. "MOMMY HESIA! I'M HUNGRY. PLEASE GET ME SOME FOOD," he boomed, and the Ugaan looked petrified with fear, not to mention extremely confused at the sudden behavior. Ventarros whispered, his cheeks red: "It's a dare, excuse me. I'll pay you to stay for five minutes and not breathe a word about this to anyone." Then he raised his voice again and continued: "LOOK AT THE WYVERN OVER THERE! SHE'S A BIG SCARY ICECUBE! MAMA I DON'T LIKE HER! BUT SHE'S ALSO CUTE WITH BIG SCARY MISTER OVER THERE, BLUE GUY! HE HAS A NICE SCARF! CAN YOU GET ME ONE!"

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Fri May 11, 2018 2:34 am

Instead of scowling or getting annoyed like she'd hoped, the stupid blue lizard seemed to find it funny, the uncharacteristic grin on his face expanding to the point where she thought his cheeks would stretch beyond their limit. Her talons, long and curved and shimmering like polished swords, scraped the floor as they curled in her displeasure, leaving pale scratch marks in the sandstone. Her insides were just itching for her to claw that smile right off his stupid stupid face, but she didn't want to appear as a mindlessly aggressive moron to the others.

She chose not to react to Ayato's comment about her biting his rear nor to his demonstration of 'tail tapping,' ignoring the stupid look of stupid superiority on his big stupid face. She did, however,
swish her tail again, sending a larger pile of sand in his direction whilst giving him an innocent look. Makes for good entertainment, though.

"Yeah, you want me to act out the verses?" she asked, baring her teeth at him in a half playful, half serious manner. She was just trying to get a rise out of him, as he was out of her. It was almost like how she and Storm acted, only the rivalry was far more friendly and less... aggressive.

As engrossed as she was with spiting Ayato, her blue eyes boring into his, she didn't notice the twins' giggling, lucky for them. Amalyn, on the other hand, did, and she scowled at them.

"I think you would both be wise not to continue this ridiculous gossip, lest you want a public lashing off Aliugaan Ayato," she said, quietly enough that only the twins and perhaps Ventarros could hear her. She wasn't exactly scolding them, just warning them about the dangers of whispering like schooldragonets about their superior and squadmate.

Her eyes drifted to Ayato and Athena. It's like two storms battling for control of the sky. She admitted it, it did amuse her, but it also somewhat irritated her. So focused on each other. Do they even realize how ridiculous they look? Pulling those expressions at each other? A twinge of something harsh tugged on her heart, constricting her chest as she watched them. When Ventarros shrugged, she rolled her eyes again.

Larkum gave Amalyn a sheepish look, but she was still smiling. "It's adorable," she responded, before she broke down into loud cackling at Ventarros' dare. Her brother falling over didn't help her.

Even Amalyn fought a smile at Ventarros' high pitched 'what?' with great difficulty. She flicked her tail back and forth, leaning forward slightly. "This should be good," she commented dryly, giving him an almost playful glance.

Athena couldn't help it, she was smiling. A real smile. Ventarros' hilarious reaction, combined with the amusement of the others, calmed her nerves. She almost felt... at home. Like she was back in Pyrria. She arched a brow at the big male, her expression saying; got you.Her body was wiggling very slightly, like an energetic snake, only far more subtle. Tophi naming her a 'genius' made her smile grow a couple of inches.

"You heard me," she teased. "Go for it. It's not that hard." She glanced at Ayato. "Just imitate him and you'll have the 'hatchling act' down."

She knew she was treading on dangerous territory with Ayato, but she couldn't stop herself. She wanted revenge on him for his remarks. Sweet, sweet revenge. If that meant provoking him, so far as to lunging at her, she'd do it. With pleasure.

Larkum giggled louder when poor Ventarros stood up. The twins, Amalyn and Athena watched eagerly as he approached the entrance to the barracks. Larkum snorted and covered her face with both wings to muffle her laughter as he started his act on the poor female.

Athena's snout wrinkled as her eyes twinkled in pleasure, watching Ventarros terrify the poor female. She knew picking the large, muscular male for the 'baby' dare was a perfect choice. She chuckled, a warm sound produced from deep inside her chest. Her hawkish eyes flickered to Amalyn, who was watching her squadmate with an arched brow and a tiny smile curling her lip.

At Ventarros' next phrase, however, the smile disappeared. Athena froze, as did everyone else. Larkum mouthed 'ooooo' as a nervous, exhilerated grin appeared on her face. Her head snapped around to watch Athena and Ayato's reactions.

"Ice cube!" the twin spluttered, giggling at the comparison. Amalyn snickered, nodding slightly in approval of Ventarros' choice of words.

CUTE?! Athena's face grew hot again. She raised her head, hissing like a cobra, to glare daggers into the back of Ventarros' head.
"Venty's gonna get it," Larkum whispered to Tophi.

What is it with these folks and me and Ayato! Athena wanted to demand, but for now she kept  deathly silent, clearing her expression so only a neutral look remained. Yet her eyes were smoldering like smoke from a campfire. She made sure the burly dragon could feel his oncoming death.

She also made a point not to look at Ayato and merely muttered under her breath, "his scarf looks stupid."

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Artemise Fri May 11, 2018 7:16 pm

Aha. Athena seemed to be running out of words to use, especially as she launched no remark at his wide grin. Some agitation showed through, though, in the form of physical movement: Ayato didn't miss how Athena's claws, like long deadly sickles, curved back towards her, gleaming as it caught and reflected the light from the hot afternoon sun. He chose not to provoke her further on this matter, however, not out of fear, but rather because it felt unfair to continuously bait Athena when she had no verbal responses left to attack him with. Plus, she was clearly itching to use her preferred method, and she couldn't, not now.

Her silence definitely didn't mean that she was giving up, though. Ayato merely scoffed when she sent a wave of sand towards him, clamping down on the urge to sneeze, but allowing himself to lift his scarf a bit with his tail to allow some cool air to soothe the warm irritated scales beneath. He nodded as if acknowledging Athena's efforts, maintaining the condescending look in hopes to annoy her. Here she could continue trying to turn the environment against him. At least she had a chance to fight back here.

"One can't be good at both singing and acting. You're skilled at neither, and I don't want to bore myself." He paused, then couldn't resist adding, "plus, I highly doubt you'd like to be humiliated in front of you entire squad." He was Aliugaan for a reason, and that reason certainly wasn't luck. Nor was he letting his reputation be crushed anytime soon, he thought in a determined manner. He wouldn't mind a spar right now, though... Preferably against some, ah, certain giggling individuals not too far from him, perhaps five steps to his left. Maybe later.

Tophi would have paid Amalyn no heed if it weren't for the truth in her words. He certainly didn't want a public lashing--he knew how strict Ayato was, sometimes, and ruthless with his punishments. Though, he was a softie around Athena, Tophi thought, and, unable to help it, began giggling again. He really was fortunate to be able to witness another side to Ayato, he thought, the really adorable side that can't stop firing retorts back at Athena.

Ventarros noted how Amalyn rolled her eyes again, and remarked softly, edging towards her so Tophi and Larkum wouldn't hear, "I recommend going with the flow. It's not like you can change it anyway. Besides... I haven't seen Ayato relax in ages, not since his first appearance here in Ki'Sha. Almost half a century ago." That almost-somber tone vanished when the dare was assigned, and he shook his head frantically at Amalyn. "Good indeed!... For you!" Athena was smiling for the first time since they'd met, and while he was happy that she felt relaxed enough to allow such a positive emotion through, he didn't like that it was at his expense.

Ayato shook his head at Athena's remark thrown his way. "Oh, the sheer hypocrisy," he said, "plus, at least I'd be a well-behaved hatchling. You're the one who screams and attacks everyone who irritates you."

Tophi was positively howling at Ventarros's act. Tears fell from his eyes as he rolled around on the floor, laughter filling his chest, his mouth. Amazing! He made sure to remember every single second, every single detail of this precious, once-in-a-lifetime moment, to be brought up again during tough times to lighten his day.

Ayato looked embarrassed for Ventarros, rustling his wings, but couldn't help a small smile, widening at the mention of Miss Ice Cube--though it slid off fast when Ventarros said he was cute with Athena. As much as he wished to, he couldn't step in right now to interrupt the dare. Later, then.

"MAMA, I SAID I'M HUNGRY!" Ventarros continued yelling, his eyes taking on a dazed look. Hesia stuttered: "I-I-I don't know what to get you!"

"ANYTHING! IS FIVE MINUTES OVER YET?"

"Nope."

Ventarros, at a loss for words, dissolved into senseless shouting and wailing.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Sun May 13, 2018 10:25 am

Athy imitated Ayato's condescending look to annoy him right back, her tongue poking out from between her teeth slightly. She scoffed at his remark and rolled her dark blue eyes. "Shut up," she snapped at him, having nothing else to throw at him. Glaring daggers, she swished her tail irritaby and made a conscious decision to ignore any further comments from her superior. Sge wanted to tear his throat out, simply because he was so infuriating. Hearing Tophi start giggling again, she gave him and his sister a look that said; what the hell are you laughing at?

Amalyn stiffened when Ventarros leaned in toward her. She turned her head to meet his eyes, listening to what he had to say. She paused, then gave a discreet nod, her expression not betraying what she was thinking. Her eyes locked on Ayato and remained there. Wonder what happened to him.

She quickly dismissed her curiosity when Ventarros was dared. A small smirk tugged at the corners of her lips at his obvious embarrassment.

Athena bit back the urge to respond to Ayato, but the increasing in the speed of her tail tapping gave away her irritation. "You want to be next?" she hissed, leaning in slightly so the others wouldn't hear her. "Because I can arrange that. Right here. Right now." There was no real bite behind her words, but she was
annoyed, her breath coming out in heavy clouds of blue mist.

Her attention returned to the dare, and she quickly started relaxing again.
Larkum fell over as well onto her belly, pounding the earth with her wings. She was laughing so hard she was wheezing. Amalyn's mouth was wobbling dangerously as she tried to battle the laughter building up in her throat.

When the victim dissolved into incoherent shrieks and cries, Athena lost it.

Her laugh was warm and clear, quickly growing louder as the seconds ticked by. A helpless grin spread across her face. Athy quickly clamped a wing over her mouth to try prevent anyone from hearing her.

Choking down on the sound, she quickly shouted, "Your five minutes is up!" and rested her head on the ground, still chuckling quietly.

I only laugh like that when I'm with Storm. Images of him and her best friend giggling over some stupid joke filled her head and made her feel warm inside. A subdued smile still lingered on her face when Ventarros returned.

Still laughing, Larkum said, "That was amazihihing." Amalyn said nothing, but arched a brow playfully at Venty.

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Contrary to the intended effect, Athena mirroring his condescending look only entertained him further. Especially with her tongue showing. It really, really didn't match, as her imitation of his expression meant her head would be lifted up slightly and her eye ridges raised... And sticking her tongue at him completely ruined the image. He dropped the act and shook his head slightly, smiling briefly, because deciding not to provoke her any more didn't mean he couldn't smile. It was her problem if she chose to react to that, too. He took no pity on the twins when Athena turned her irritation towards them, partly because he hadn't forgotten how hard they were giggling at him and Athena earlier.

That and because Athena was definitely a softie. He was certain of that. For someone who constantly threatened to kill, maim, whatever, he knew that deep underneath, Athena wouldn't actually inflict lasting damage on the dragons who she had experienced so much with. Together, they had clawed their way through the rogue attack, and passed what turned out to be a test, though a somewhat lethal one; gripped by the shock and horror of Tophi losing his vision, Larkum's disintegrated wing; afterwards recuperated together; now played truth or dare with each other. Only months had passed since Athena chose to join Ki'Sha; became an Ugaan; yet she had gone through so much with her squad. If they weren't friends--then they could be considered comrades, at least.

(He felt left out around them, despite being the one with the highest rank. He wished for a group to bond with, but knew he would never get one.)

Ayato had completely missed Amalyn looking at him. When he pulled himself out of his thoughts, her gaze was on Ventarros again, and it never occurred to him that Amalyn might've been noticing him while he was immersed in his thoughts. A smirk came over his face at the dare that Ventarros was issued, widening further at Athena's threat. "At this rate, you can make some music with that tail tapping," was the cool response he served her. "Maybe it'll sound better than your singing, hmm?" With his own tail, he waved away the clouds of mist unfurling from Athena's maw, and said, "Oh, do calm down. Let's enjoy Ventarros's performance first, then you can think of ways to embarrass me."

When Athena laughed, everyone but Ventarros turned to look at her with varying intensities of shock and surprise splayed across their faces. Tophi's own stopped briefly as he observed her with a warm smile, but he soon resumed his laughing after switching his gaze back to the poor Ventarros, who would've liked to join in the laughter if he weren't the one suffering. Ayato was the only one stubbornly keeping his gaze away, staring unseeingly at Ventarros. His mind too full of the beautiful sound he'd just heard, the best in a while. His gaze softened, but his teeth clenched. It was sure nice to hear Athena laugh, but why on Nuira would it fill him with such warmth? How odd.

The moment Ventarros heard that his five minutes was up, he dived away from Hesia, his wings crossing over his head as he lay on the floor, a miserable lump. Tophi's giggles wouldn't stop, and he clutched his aching stomach, while Ayato snapped back to reality and shook his head pityingly. After a long painful moment, Ventarros finally wheezed, "Truth or dare... Amalyn?"

What The Heck (Priv/Ayato) - Page 5 Empty Re: What The Heck (Priv/Ayato)

Post by Athena Sun Jun 10, 2018 1:00 am

Athena knew Ayato found her irritation amusing. His ability to make a comeback for literally anything she said annoyed her all the more. She had to fight not to lose it completely and lunge for his stupid face.

He was right. Athena was a softie. In her mind, Storm was at fault for turning her into one. Ah well it wasn't like she'd resisted much to the change. The twins reminded her of him, in the sense that Storm would've laughed at her and Ayato too. Oh dear gods, if he could see her now, bantering and being petty around her superior. He'd never let her live it down. She shuddered. Eugh, no.

She glared daggers at Ayato when he made the comment about her tail. She stopped doing it, but the tip was vibrating slightly. She huffed, bristling indignantly when he told her to 'calm down,' but chose to follow his words and relaxed, deciding Ventarros' dare was more amusing than trying to annoy Ayato.

When everyone looked at her, Athena promptly clamped her jaws together, halting the unusual noise. Heat rose to her snout as she shot them all look of irritation. "What are you all gawking at?!" she spat defensively. Is laughing a crime now? she thought.

Larkum too had listened to Athy's laughter, as had Amalyn, although the latter had enough foresight not to look at Athena, knowing she probably didn't like being the centre of attention.
Larkum giggled out a, "Nothing!" before she glanced at Ayato. Noticing the subtle change in expression, her smile widened. Awwww...

"Aww, poor Ventarros," she giggled, watching as her big friend tried to hide his face. Amalyn rolled her eyes, a small smile curling her usual grim lip. The dark dragoness snapped to attention when her name was called, the look of amusement shifting to one of displeasure. Athena watched with interest as Amalyn weighed her options.

On one talon, Amalyn was a near perfect liar, so she could easy lie if she picked truth. On the other talon, she didn't want to appear cowardly to the others..

She shrugged. "Dare. Do your worst."
