A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

Post by Rihzome on Wed Oct 18, 2017 6:19 pm

An odd invitation, seemingly sourceless,  appearing, fluttering in the wind outside caves, doors and entrances, pinned by rocks, stuck to walls, anything to keep it in place. The seal on it was nothing special, a simple red wax, with a laurel insignia and what seemed to be a small planet inside it. But of course, the magic wouldn't happen until the invitation was opened. Magic in a rather… unspecific sense, of course, as it wasn't true magic, but rather just a set of very powerful machines. Once opened, every letter, from those sent to the Kaamil to those sent to the Ki'Sha would read the same. An invitation to a ball of sorts. A grand thing, to be held in some place called 'The Celestial Palace'. The letter also told of intrigue, and a promise of a night that was to be anything but boring.

To any who thought, even for a single moment, of accepting, the machines would activate, tearing them away from their world, snatching them across the stars and rather violently, as if they had been thrown, which technically they had, forcing them back into 'reality'. Their surroundings would be completely different however. Go was nature, gone wide open spaces, replaced instead by a large room, a large number of chairs, couches and seating, for all manner of draconiforme, arrayed in front of a roaring fire, which while massive, easily as large as the largest dragon, it burned rather mildly, more for light and watching than true heat. And of course, their host. Rihzome. Clad in what could only be described as a tuxedo, tailed for a dragon, he would sweep a wing across his chest in a bow to each arrival, guiding them to an unoccupied seat, offering them small snacks and drinks, waiting for the others to arrive.

And of course, behind them… a vista unlike any they would ever have seen. An unknown planet below them, large areas shimmering with lights, contrasted by massive swathes of darkness, the Palace placed just so, locked behind the planet, keeping the sun away from view… And sitting just above the planet, space. Pure, and simple. An endless expanse of stars and blackness. One thing was for certain, for any who gazed on that vista… This wasn't Nuira. Nowhere near it.

Re: A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

Post by Tsidia, the mind player on Sat Oct 21, 2017 11:33 am

"Shadows are moving", was the first thing on Harry's mind when the most delicate puff of air has reached his ears. He struck out of instinct, but instead of assassins' throats,  he was met with a strange letter. He gave Tsidia two more hours before waking her up.

"Strange", she said after playing with it for a minute or two, after which she shrugged and gave it back. "Clean as day, dark as night", she said in a cold voice, referencing something only the two could know about.

"Good",  the dragon replied as he regained his paper, cutting out the bollocks and reading aloud. Harry smirked a little as he watched the letters rearrange, dancing before his eyes. The Stringmaster knew it the second he read the first sentence. It appeared to be an offer.  One he was too bored and crazy to decline. Before he knew it the runes on his body flared up.

"Tsidia...",  he said and she gave him a nod, stepping back to make sure she could track him. Seconds later he was in the void. Not a 'normal' one. Whoever was doing this, knew how to manipulate the field.

Taking control of his body Harry kept hold of the letter. The dragon straightened his back and took a quick look around. After someone bowed before him he gave them the letter, letting them know of the visit's purpose.

It was either some kind of base or a ship. He couldn't tell as his vision was still a blur. "All fine",  he answered the question he didn't hear, moving towards one of the seats. After leaning back he let out a small sigh. Time to slow down. They were on a ship. Harry found himself holding his breath as he watched the planet show. "Tsidia", he called out, but the distance was too much. The best he could do was the very thin link keeping him alive. All he needed now was a glass of wine and he would blend in. A black-scaled,  collected dragon, watching the stars through the glass of a  spaceship.

Rihzome's smile faltered after a few short minutes, as he gazed around the almost empty lobby, carrying a drink to Harry, one he remembered the male liked. Fruity, and extremely… energetic. Probably could be used as an alternative to rocket fuel, at this point. "I was honestly expecting a far larger turnout… I even had a 'murder mystery' planned…" He huffed, sounding rather saddened, before blinking. "Oh! If you would prefer it, I can… reactivate the pull, and bring Tsidia here too. For company." He told him with a small smile. Of course, he didn't trust this male, not at all, especially given the wealth of technology embedded in the station, from what kept them breathing oxygen to the gravity generator and the magnetic arrays that kept them in stable orbit.

Settling himself next to Harry, Rihzome simply began to hum. "So… yeah. I made provisions for a maximum of 50 people or so… Since it's just us… Well." He shrugged in a rather bored fashion. "Not really fun when you have a murder 'mystery' with just three people." He mused, already guessing Tsidia would be joining them. Just sitting there in awkward silence, he moved after a little while, getting his own drink from a rather large selection that was set up, his tail smacking against a button nearby to trigger a large cart of food to move out. "Feel free to have some snacks or something." He told Harry, the plates that adorned it filled with titbits and finger food, far more than they could consume. "Of course, there's dinner and dessert later… so… you know. Don't eat too much."

Re: A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

Post by Vortex on Sun Nov 05, 2017 9:01 am

Vortex's first instinct when receiving an invitation would typically consist of following a routine of 'ignore it' followed by 'put it in the stack with the others' and maybe, just maybe, 'read it later'. However, literally NOTHING exciting had happened to the masked dragon for the past month or two, and he was getting a bit antsy. There was always something interesting happening in Nuria, coronations, rifts, battles, and yet, it was as if the past weeks had been a eventful deadzone for him. Sighing heavily, he sat down and, inevitably, sliced open the letter he had found on his doorstep earlier that morning and read it. It was a simple event, and, perhaps it was just what he needed to get himself back into the swing of things. As the thought of what it could entail crossed his mind, he felt his stomach turn as he was whisked away from the coziness of his temporary home and dragged across what appeared to be space. Or time. Or one of those two, he wasn't sure which.

As the pull ended and he was dropped into the destination, Vortex groaned softly and rubbed his head, mumbling something incoherently about migraines, before shifting to his feet and blinking a few times, clearing his vision. To be honest, it wasn't far off from what he had expected; an oversized, comfy room with plenty of sitting areas. He did notice a sudden drop in his energy as he had regained sensitivity, but he ignored it for now, figuring it was just the effects of sudden, unexpected interstellar travel. Glancing around, he noticed that there were already a few guests there, or hosts, it was difficult to tell from a distance with such an uncalled for drop in his energy. Shrugging, he brushed a small beetle whom had come with him off of his shoulder and stood, slowly making his way over to the only other life in the room. "Hello?"

Re: A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

Post by Caramina on Mon Nov 06, 2017 6:51 pm

Oh, what's this?

An invitation, appearing out of seemingly nowhere, fluttering on the light breeze that had picked up, that swept into her cave through the wide open entrance. A red seal pinning it to the walls of her mountain cave, simple and not giving away a single hint as to who might've sent it. She wondered if she was the only one receiving this. Cara opened the invitation, her deep green eyes flicking from left to right, taking in the crisp black words inked onto the clean parchment. Her claws uncurled from around the parchment, letting it fall back to the cave, as she wondered about the lack of an address. Only telling of a place called the Celestial Palace. How could she go? Of course, she would have loved to–

Caramina was whisked out of her cave, far away, disappearing and appearing and hurtling through star-speckled darkness, or at least that was what she thought she saw. Managing to land on her two feet, wings spread out to maintain balance, her wide eyes took in her surroundings. Everything looked nice and fancy, and as she made her way towards the numerous couches to take a seat, she noticed, gazing out, the unique view. Cool. Where were they?

She paused, spotting Rihzome and Harry first. She waved a wing at Rihzome, not even knowing if he had seen her, and what was he wearing? Had he organised this? She wouldn't be surprised if he had. Her gaze darted about, and landed upon Vortex on a far corner of the room, who was making his way towards Rihzome. To him, she waved as well, before moving to join him. "Hi."

Re: A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

The view was so beautiful. It reminded Harry of his choices, the void, leadership, Tsidia...
The dragon refused to let Rihzome break his train of thought as a particularly pleasant memory got on his mind. "Thank you", he said politely and got up, before hesitantly forcing his gaze off the windows. The dragon held some kind of white powder between his claws. Or rather between the scales, making it look like some kind of pattern. He delicately put one inside the drink, after which he brought it to his maw, ingesting a small portion.

For a second his body looked brighter as if emitting some kind of aura. One would have to look microscopically close to see the miniature runes painted everywhere. Billions of symbols flaring up in one moment, that was somewhere around his snout. He let out a sigh of satisfaction, before rapidly turning around to acknowledge Vortex's presence. "Leave her be", he whispered to Rihzome upon seeing other guests arrive.

"Good, umm... evening.", he said quietly and took another, little more courageous sip of his drink, this time without any side effects. Energy soaked into the dragon's systems at a deadly rate, the gas exhaled by his lungs taking a bit darker appearance. Perhaps it was time to recalibrate for his new position. Harry would be rather quiet as many systems somewhat connected to his biological brain started sorting themselves out and trying to tunnel out of the ship's range.

Re: A Cordial Invitation (Non-canon)

Post by Athena on Thu Nov 16, 2017 2:55 am

When the invitation slipped through her open window and landed in her lap, Athena was.. startled, to say the least. She carefully put down the book she'd been reading -a novel on Ki'shin customs- and gazed at the piece of paper that draped itself across her knees. Her dark eyes narrowed as she carefully turned it over, scanning the words on the paper.

It was.. an invitation? Her feathers stood on end. The heck am I getting an invitation for? She wanted to demand, lip curling. She had no friends in high places, minus Ayato, who was an Aliugaan, but that was besides the point. Besides, Athena had a reputation for breaking the rules -her numerous scars told that story to any half-wit-. For several moments she sat there, baffled at the idea that someone would be inviting her anywhere. Something.. didn't feel right here.

Eh, why not, she thought. It's not like- As soon as she uttered the words inside her head, an outside force whisked her away. Time and space flashed before her eyes, the latter a familiar sight. Grief came with the sight of stars.

Suddenly, she was tossed into a room. Nausea made her stomach turn and with a grunt, Athena stumbled and almost fell over. Immediately, her tail was up in front of her, ready to fire any spikes or slice open any attackers. Her cold blue eyes widened, however, when she seen the.. oddly peaceful atmosphere of the room. The heat from the fire was mild compared to the humidity of the Ki'Sha deserts, almost relieving.

Slowly, she lowered her tail, surveying the room with wary eyes. Where the hell am I? she wondered. Her feathers stood on end, bristling with anticipation of an attack. She gazed at the other dragons in the room, ones of all kinds of appearances, from a male with a mask to a female with a beautiful green mane. They all seemed relaxed.

The wyvern stayed where she was, looking about as relaxed as a cat that had just been dumped in water.
