Two Rulers for One. (Open, Stormcallers.)

Post by Solarlight and Darksky on Tue Apr 10, 2018 6:53 am

First topic message reminder :

Messengers were going to every Stormcaller within the tribes territory. They made sure to get the important letter from their new king and queen, that was to be given to everyone. The letter simply read:
To all Stormcallers.

As some of you may know, we have been made rulers of our tribe. As such, want everyone who can to come to the palace so we may meet everyone, and discuss some plans.

Sincerely,
Solarlight and Darksky

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And old dragoness push the door to one of the palace’s bedrooms open. She looked around, trying to find the two dragons she knew were there. She sniffed the air, quickly noticing the scent of those she was looking for. She finally looked to see a purple tail around the corner. She walked around to find the two head dragons she was looking for, Solarlight and Darksky, and  each reading their own book.
“Good to see you two are keeping up with your studying.” Both twins turn to see the older dragon, and quickly ran up and nuzzled her, with both saying ”It’s good to see you, Yian.” The dragoness looked between the two, smiling.
“It’s good to see you too, my little dragoons. You seem to be settling in well.” Sky just shook her head.
”Not really, but we’re trying.” Solar then looked behind the older dragoness.
”Anyone else come?”
“They’re already in the meeting chamber, my ruler.” The male half just shook his head.
”Please, of all dragons, could you not call us that. It just sounds weird coming from you.” Yian chuckled a bit at the white scaled dragon’s reaction.
“Very well. I must say, the letter I assume you sent to literally everyone near the Tempest was fairly well written.” Both twins smiled before asking the dragoness to head down so they could get ready.
Oculus smiled but did not look at Azriel as he made his comment about him thinking highly of himself. It was always so amusing to see what the general of defense would say, and it was always fun to jab at him too. "Well, someone has to keep lookout, and I'm only eying potential threats, goof." His comment was followed with a not to subtle action of purposefully not looking at Azriel, before smiling as he watched Azriel walk towards the twins. Still with the smile upon his maw, he followed the onyx dragon towards the Stormcaller's leaders.
He watched as the twins remained unaware of their approach until their...advisor? Something... hinted at their approach before speaking. Oculus noticed that the dark female looked on edge, and very much not at ease with their presence. "Hello...and thank you" he said in universal, a smile as he gave a small nod towards the two-headed dragon, keeping his eyes focused on the two. For now, he remained quiet, content to observe and listen, seeing how the new stormcaller leader would react in dialogue with the general of defense.
Really, it was amusing how Oculus could never hold back a retort to one of his remarks, Azriel thought with a soft snort as the former attempted to defend his actions. Azriel didn't mind, though, secretly appreciating the banter, but had to meet Oculus's comeback with silence this time. There were more pressing matters as hand, one of them being the new Rulers.
The other being the ominous presence he suddenly felt pulsing from the back of the hall. Azriel rolled his eyes in exasperation at this, wondering if the Kommandant was here to collect information as well, or feel out the new Rulers of a territory that Azriel suspected Haven had been wanting to invade for a long time. Either way, what mattered was that he got to Solarlight and Darksky first before either of them lost their nerve.
They didn't seem to have noticed the approaching Xoyan until one of the Stormcallers near the Rulers gestured towards him. The pleasant smile was already in place when the twins looked up, his expressing showing nothing but a polite curiosity. In response to their welcome, Azriel inclined his head slightly and responded in Universal after Oculus. "Thank you. Congratulations on your new roles, Rulers Solarlight and Darksky. I am Azriel of the Xoyans, and it is my pleasure to be able to make your acquaintance."
Such pretty words, he thought with amusement that did not touch his words, which came out smoothly and seemingly sincerely. He wondered if they would recognise the name at least. He would let Oculus introduce himself at his own time.
The twin Rulers both smiled, or at least Sky tried to, and nodded towards Azriel and the other dragon. Azriel sounded familiar to Solarlight and Darksky, but they didn't know the grey scaled dragon with him. While they tried to focus on the two dragons closest to them, the pair's eyes soon wondered to Haven and his companion. Sky shuddered at the sight of the half-faced dragon, and Solar honestly didn’t look much better. They could both feel the energy coming from this dragon. It must have been how he had even survived. The two Rulers were quick to turn their attention back to Azriel, though Sky couldn't help but occasionally glancing at the strange, mangled dragon, before the dark scaled dragoness nervously spoke up.
"Th-thank you, Azriel. It's n-nice to meet you too." Solar then looked at the dragon’s they didn’t know, and quickly spoke with a much calmer voice than his sister. "And, just to be sure, that is Kommandant Haven, correct? Also, who is the grey scaled dragon here, and the one that looks like he should be dead?" Solar's head darted between the grey dragon and the half-faced dragon, still trying to figure out who they were. Sky, meanwhile, was trying to keep herself from showing her nervousness, but her side of the twins' shared body began to shake slightly.
Azriel scanned their expressions for any sign of recognition. They seemed to recognise him, but not... fully, if that made sense at all; they had perhaps only heard his name in passing, he guessed, but did not fully comprehend or realise who he was to the Xoya, and how long he had held his position as one of the Generals. The shier twin did not seem to exhibit any nervous behaviour at hearing his name, as he thought she might have, which kind of sealed his assumption that their knowledge of Nuira was limited currently. That or he wasn't "scary" enough, he thought with a touch of amusement.
He could see how their gazes kept darting to the unmistakable presence somewhere further back in the room, and he spared the Kommandant a brief glance. He felt no horror or shock at the disfigured face of Haven's son, having seen worse, only wondered curiously where Haven's son... Ah, Abbadon, had gotten the energy from to hold the remaining pieces of his face together. Like the twins, Azriel could feel the energy rolling off Abaddon. As it was with Haven's presence, the energy was hard not to notice.
Much to his surprise, Darksky spoke up, and he acknowledged her with a small nod of his head. "It is mine, as well," he said, then answering Solar's question, "You are correct... That is Haven, indeed. The one next to him--his son, Abaddon." Nodding to his companion, Azriel continued, "And this one here is Herre Oculus of the Skyggers," Revealing that Occy was the General of Intelligence would be unwise, he mused, and would be no different from yelling "We're here to get information!" which would likely put the twins on guard. Though he couldn't resist throwing in that Occy was head of the Skyggers... Again to test their knowledge of Xoya, and to spare poor Oculus the embarrassment of not being recognised. Plus, a little intimidation would be fun.
Huh... apparently the twins did not seem to know who he was. Oculus wasn't sure rather to be peeved by this, or to just play it off due to his age and the relatively new position the twins were in. The masculine head seemed to be much more composed, while the feminine head was very stuttery and seemed to almost be shaking. Nerves? Fear? Who cares. What DID peeve him off, as might have been visible with the slight curl of his lips as if he was about to snarl or growl at the twins, was that instead of simply asking for his name, they had asked Azriel, AZRIEL of all dragons who he was. As if he was just a simple apprentice or messenger drake for the Herre of Defense. His eyes remained fixated on the two twins, but he composed himself as he let Azriel speak to the two, just glaring at them, a smile forming on his maw instead. As the General of Defense mentioned who Abaddon was, and finally introduced him, he turned his head, staring at Azriel with a deadpan expression. He tried to read what Azriel was thinking, but wasn't able to get a decent enough expression of the other dragon, and simply turned to look back at the twins, giving a half effort wave with his right paw. Now the only question was whether the twins would know what that title meant, or if the counselors or whatever the other dragons around the twins were knew what the title meant, and if they did, would they panic? At least he knew Haven was here so if things went south, he could blame Azriel.
Both twins could pick up on the annoyance the grey dragon seemed to show at them asking Azriel his name. At least they now knew the other dragon could understand Universal. Yes, they both knew it was a common language, but neither wanted to assume he knew. He was just so quiet. But the pair soon learned why.
A Skygger! Sky tried her best to not look even more unconfident, and for once managed to, while Solar gave a somewhat surprised look. In contrast, Glasoc let out a slight, aggressive growl at hearing the title. Yian eyed him, quickly saying “Easy, Glasoc. He would have already tried something.” The wyvern looked at his mate, make a few motions with his wing fingers before slightly bowing and walking away. Sky kept her eyes on the older wyvern while Solar looked at the Xoya.
”Sorry about Glasoc. He’s been a protective one for as long as we can remember.”
It was not easy to miss the surprised look that flitted over Solarlight's face. Azriel couldn't help but wonder what at: Himself so openly introducing a Skygger, making no effort to hide Oculus's identity? The presence of a Skygger at a Stormcaller event, held to celebrate newly crowned Rulers? Both? He didn't know, and it somewhat irritated him, though he quickly brushed the emotion aside. Much to her credit, the shier twin--Darksky--didn't lose her cool at his revelation, but it probably wasn't very favourable for her to keep composed here. Poor Oculus--then again, he didn't seem the kind to take joy in intimidation, much unlike a certain enormous individual at the back.
A quick glance at Oculus confirmed the younger male's mood. Irritation showed very clearly in the curl of his lips, and Azriel chased a small smile away before it could form on his own maw. Was there a need for Oculus glancing at Azriel while the latter was introducing Abaddon, he didn't know, but like so many things previously, he put it aside, focusing instead on the twins and their aggressive companion, Glasoc. Hmph. As if they would act so early on in the event... Azriel wasn't a Skygger, but rushing to murder was definitely not what the elite assassins of Xoya possessed. His now-contemptuous gaze followed Glasoc briefly before returning to Solar when the latter spoke. "It isn't a very bad trait," he commented. A brief silence passed before he ventured in a conversational tone, "I wonder what led the previous leader to pick you two. Must be special, to stand out among the many dragons in this tribe."
As an aggressive growl came from behind the stormcaller leaders, Oculus looked directly at Glasoc, his gaze holding no emotion as he slightly cocked his head to the left, as if he was saying 'really?'. While he expected this sort of reaction, the main surprise to Oculus was the lack of emotion of the darker colored head, as well as no other guards becoming on edge. At least the one next to the aggressive growler held some common sense. He wouldn't have walked straight up to end their short reign if his goal was really that. He'd be yelled at for being so obvious. As he watched the aggressor walk away, he turned his head back to the twins, listening to Azriel speak to them. "Had I wanted to do anything, you'd not have know I was even here." Letting out a huff in disdain at the hostile reaction, he opted to remain quiet and listen to the general of defense speak with Solarlight and Darksky. Silence from him might be the best way for the twins to feel a bit more at ease. He found that thought funny though, that they would be uneasy in their own palace just because he was there to chat with them.
The pair looked at Oculus, both seeming slightly embarrassed, particularly Solar do to his own reaction, but they kept their composure for the most part. Both could tell he didn’t quite like the reaction, and Solar noticed a hint of annoyance from Azriel. It really didn’t sit well with the inexperienced Rulers. They didn’t want to make the Xoya present mad at, or uncomfortable. After all, they had come all this way. Agh! Why did this have to be difficult? Solar finally looked at Oculus again with an apologetic gaze, and spoke with a similar tone.
”I’m sorry for the reactions, Oculus. And not asking you your name. Didn’t know if ya spoke Universal or not. Anyway, I read a lot about Xoya, but I just never expected a Skygger come just to watch and talk.” He then looked back at where Glasoc has walk off to, but Sky decided to try and respond, still nervous, but sounding calmer. ”A-and Glasoc.... He use to be a D-Diplomat. He never told us much about it, b-but.... He tried to protect someone, and he isn’t silent by choice.” Whether that would make things better or worse, neither twin could guess, but at least they were being honest. In both their minds that counted for something.
The pair then looked to Azriel as he wondered why they were chosen for the position they now had. Sky shyly lowered her head, looking nervous again, while Solar seemed to not even know how to respond. After some silence, the white scaled dragon the signed, finally thinking of a response. ”Other then the fact that we’re attached to each other? In all honesty, we’re not sure. Neither of us really knew Rihzome that well, and we didn’t really get the chance to ask.”
Re: Two Rulers for One. (Open, Stormcallers.)
Post by Artemise on Sun Jun 17, 2018 2:38 am
What Oculus said was exactly what Azriel had been thinking. Nodding once, he expressed his agreement through a slight smile, a little reminder of the force that would await the Stormcallers should they attempt to attack Xoya. However, Azriel didn't think that it was very likely, seeing no ambition to conquer the world sparking in either of the twins' eyes. Even then, it wasn't likely that it would happen anytime soon, so he could rest assured... For the time being.
The newly crowned pair in front of him and Oculus seemed unsettled by the Xoyans' irritation, and Azriel couldn't help but feel somewhat pleased by this. Pfft, it'd been a while since he'd met Rulers that were so... green. Usually they were haughty, overly confident, cold, rude, or all four. Suppressing the smile that threatened to visit his face and replacing it with a look of boredom, he kept quiet when Solarlight and Darksky spoke to Oculus, offering their apologies. He offered no comment, leaving Oculus space to respond. A Skygger who couldn't speak Universal would be incompetent! Azriel thought. He couldn't help but interject curiously, "So he can't speak, but can only make noises like growling and snarling?"
He watched the new Rulers closely as they seemed to struggle to come up with an answer, and quietly took note of the information. While it was meager and probably useless, he found it interesting that they didn't know why they were picked. However, he stood by his point that the previous leader had probably seen some potential in the both of them... Perhaps spending a little more time with the twins would reveal this potential, if any at all. "Ah, I see. Well, don't let it bother you two. Accept your roles and carry out your tasks. I'm sure you'll have successful reigns," he said in a reassuring tone.
He let the silence drag for a while, purposely letting his eyes wander around the place they were in. "You Stormcallers have amazing interior designs," he observed, feigning admiration that was not entirely faked. "I wonder what the rest of the palace looks like?" Pulling his gaze back to the twins, he raised his eye ridges in a silent request.
Oculus continued to stare at the twins with a look that lacked amusement. The twin rulers didn't seem that knowledgeable of Skygger lore, but on a second thought, it was probably for the better that little was known about them. However, one of the common necessities for the skygger was to be able to speak Universal fluently, otherwise, that would just be plain silly, especially if they were trying to sneak into somewhere or extract information from someone. "Speaking Universal is required, so I am quite fluent in it. And I am a Skygger..." Oculus paused for a few seconds, debating if telling them that he wasn't just a Skygger, but the captain of the skygger, was really a good idea all things considered. Letting out a breath to help calm himself, he just gave a small smile. "It is fine. You are a new leader and your colleagues are just overprotective. The apology is accepted." His tail would gently flick behind him as he now took on an amused expression, hearing the general of defense speak up and mention the interior. While Oculus would have liked to look at the interior and all the possibilities, he figured it would be best if a Skygger wasn't seen scoping out the hall, as that would probably just make everyone more unsettled. For now, he would accompany Azriel as 'the skygger', and then harass him on the flight back to Xoya about his word choices.
Sky nodded while Solar smiled at Oculus. Thankfully, he seemed to understand everyone’s reaction, even Glasoc’s more aggressive response. Before either could respond to the grey Skygger, Azriel asked if the twins.... Guardian...? Caretaker...? Father...? The pair never really understood how to describe the group of Scholars that became their adoptive family. Either way, both seemed a bit nervous at the question, but both still delivered a nod each before Solar spoke.
“Yeah. The Skygger he fought slashed his vocal chamber. He does have one more way to ‘speak’ though.” Sky then picked up the thought, though more nervously.
”He uses the fingers on his wings’ wrists along with movement and what sounds he can make to represent words.”
After this, Azriel seemed to try and insure Solarlight and Darksky that they would be good at their shared role. Both were happy to hear it. This was a lot of weight on their shoulders, especially considering their extremely young age, but at least some dragons seemed to want to help. Before either could answer this, the pair heard the dragon talk about the palace’s interior. Both heads looked him before the white male responded.
”It really depends one where you are in the palace. Bus, ”If you really want to, me and Darksky could show ya around.”
Welp super late + short post, sorry, school's keeping me busy and I've lost the will to write. --
"And I am a Skygger..."
The pause that followed was a telling one; to anyone who knew Oculus, it would be clear that the seconds were spent considering revealing the actual position he held within Xoya. Not a mere Skygger, but rather the one who led them. Wisely, Oculus didn't, giving a surprisingly calm response to the twins. Azriel flicked an eye-ridge up at this, but withheld his thoughts, watching approvingly, not speaking until the twins explained their colleague's situation.
"Ah ..." he said, nodding sympathetically. However, the subject was not of relevance to the information he was pursuing, so he only added, "What a pity," and dropped the topic at that, his words holding a note of finality. Such was one of Azriel's ways to signify whether he wanted to continue the subject or drop it; his tone said it all, and if not, his carefully controlled facial expressions.
"Yes, I would love to, if you two don't mind," Azriel said, careful not to sound overly enthusiastic. "I've heard rumours about its grandeur, and this room is impressive enough. I can hardly imagine what the palace looks like."
Post by Oculus on Mon Jul 02, 2018 3:21 pm
It was interesting to see the different reactions in the twins, one showing extreme timidity, and the other more outgoing. Oculus wondered how much he could learn about the physiology of double-headed dragons from these two, seeing that they did not share the same characteristics, much less genders.
At the mention of Skygger, his head perked up a bit, before he cast a glance down where Glasoc left. Was attacked by a skygger? Now that perked his curiosity. Was it a batched mission before his time, or simply one trying to interfere with their business and was lucky only received the damage that they did? He would have to remember this and investigate upon further when they returned to Xoyan lands.
As the twins spoke of giving a tour of sorts, he turned to look at Azriel, a smirk appearing on his features. He held back a retort as he saw Azriel doing his best to remain stoic, and not let the inner hatchling out to be bouncing excitedly at the prospect of going to explore architecture. But to not embarrass his colleague too much, he simply returned his half smiled gaze back to the twins, remaining silent and observing.
As both twins explained Glasoc’s story, Solar took a quick mental note on Oculus’s reaction. He was a Skygger, so it made sense. He would probably be looking into it later. At least Azriel seemed ready to end that conversation. Neither twin could tell if it was sympathy or just information gathering, but neither seemed to mind the change in subject.
After mentioning the tour to the two Xøya, the pair both chuckled at Azriel’s attempt to hide his enthusiasm. Both smiled as Sky said ”Ok. Follow us.” As the pair began to lead the way, another Stormcaller began to follow, probably trying to be a guard. Before they left, however, Solarlight stopped them and eyed Haven.
”Kommandant Haven, Abaddon. Would you like to join us?” Sky doesn’t seem to happy with this, but seemed to be more out of nervousness than hate.
