Athena's Coronation (CLOSED)
Athena's Coronation
The day was glorious. Too glorious for some, many had retreated indoors until the big event. The sun was like the gate to the heavens, blinding and excruciatingly hot. Despite the unbearable weather, Ugaans were still posted along the wall of the palace, which now stood open to the public. The huge doors were parted, and dragons slowly streamed in and out. It was an unusual sight. Inside the main hall of the palace, there were long, wide tables with plates upon plates of food set upon them, free to taste and eat. Lanterns lined the sandstone walls. Ugaans stood by the walls and by the heightened stage at the back of the room.

"Oh gods, why?" Athena muttered, staring at herself in the mirror. Her anxiety was bubbling up inside her. The whole tribe was probably gathering out there and she was going to face them. It was all going to go terribly wrong because she was the epitome of what they didn't want; an outsider, one not of royal blood.
Athena had been assisted by a few servants in the palace. Despite her incessant protesting, they'd insisted on doing more than scrubbing her scales clean and polishing her horns. They'd gone a bit mental, cleaning out her fins, polishing her talons, her teeth and her tailspikes, all of which now gleamed like shards of glass and ice. Her feathers had been groomed and cooled with cold water, restoring them to their original electric blue.
Athena had tolerated them despite her extreme irritation, because she didn't want to give a bad impression. Although she made sure they felt her exasperation when she glowered into the back of their heads.
She was going to emerge in a few minutes and give a speech. She wasn't good at those. She'd never even given a speech before. Well, one, but that was when- nope. Don't think about that. Focus on the now, slow your breathing.
She tried, but she couldn't think straight. Her mind was in turmoil, tumbling and spinning through space.
"Are you alright, Ku'za?" one of the servants, a young female named Relga, asked quietly. "You look awfully shaken." Athena met her eyes and, steeling her expression, nodded.
"I'm alright," she responded. When she didn't say anything else, Relga nodded, bowed and retreated to the other end of the room.
