Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

Post by Scortia Wed Apr 19, 2017 2:11 pm

Dragons all over have started to feel the change. They have all started to get odd sensations, that they can't quite explain. Some barely feel it to a point the don't even know its there, while others just need to receive the right push to realize something is off. Others are well aware that something is off, but they don't know what. This is understandable.

But as the volcano known as Riamorsa erupts for the first time in over one hundred thousand years, a quiet voice in the backs of everyone's head sounds off in warning. It's almost enough to make one pause, try to remember what they were thinking about, and then just keep walking.

The ashes travel across the land, riding the wind, as it carries them to every corner of Nuira. They settle across the ocean, sinking deep into its depths. The black snow.

(The following is the kickstarter and first official post of the sitewide plot. If you are confused as to the setting, this will take place somewhere in the ocean, likely nearby to a reef. Your character can be doing a patrol, wandering around, hunting. Whatever you would like. This is the Lakara/waterdwelling dragon exclusive version of this roleplay. If your dragon is not aquatic/not Lakara, please join the other version: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy]. Takes place mid afternoon.)

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

As the cool afternoon took place Ark was hunting for himself in the nearby reef, only to hear a loud roar of thunder above the surface shaking the ocean. Stopping what he was doing his fins spiked up from the sudden shockwave. Gazing around he couldn't see any sign of a large creature or any other reason for such a deafening noise. Sighing to himself he turned back towards the reef aiming to catch to prey for his dinner yet something was different, the light above started to dimmer 'Was it night already?' he thought yet it soon came apparent as the black ash landed on the surface.

Rushing up as he surfaced his snout past a small layer of ash, he soon spotted the problem coming from the nearby mountain which had started to create a large cloud darkened, raining the blackened snow covering the nearby land and sea, shaking off the ash on his snout as he returned underwater. Deciding that it was a good time to head back to check on the tribe.

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

(Due to the Lakara's slow activity, their lack of members, and the fact I don't actually know if there are many aquatic rogues, I will be moving this topic along via a variety of NPCS.)

A young, teal colored dragoness, known as Rapid, would swim through the water, her vibrant colors emitting a soft glow. She was a Salmon, a member of the tribe who would go out and explore for the Lakara. At the moment, however, she was beginning to feel very cautious. Her body had tensed up, and her breathing had sped up. She felt nervous, like a foreboding feeling had just drifted over her.

She decided to try to clear her head, by going over to the coast. However, as she moved closer to one of the nearby islands, her stomach began to turn. She frowned, pausing. The ocean looked dark. Like it had been covered in black kelp, or something.

Remaining unsure of what to do, she wondered whether she should head back to the tribe or not. Rapid, however, noticed another draconiform, swimming in that direction. She didn't recognize them, but they looked like a Lakara.

Quickly, she would swim towards them, calling out in Aquatic. Of course, it's kind of hard to yell with flashing colors, other than making them brighter. She hoped she'd be able to get their attention, so she could ask them if they knew what was going on.

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

Post by Yazhi Tue Jun 13, 2017 11:34 pm

It all started with a slight tingle

Having experienced this since yesterday, the little Lakara was given the opportunity to take a rest from his job until the annoying sensation was gone. But no, he merely chose to continue on with his voyage in the ocean which was filled with unknown dangers. This was the task of a Salmon and no one protested against it.

So the blue bat dragon was out in the ocean, exploring its blue depths. The coral reefs nearby are an off white colour, which he suspected that they are dying but why? He searched the reef for at least a small patch of healthy coral all day til mid afternoon when something big happened. Loud rumbling movement noises shook the ocean waters, and the light was eventually effected by this said rumble, fading away from the underseas and the surfaces.
"Huh? That's not right... The surface of the ocean was never this dark, especially on this kind of day!" Yazhi presumed mentally, deciding to head up to the surface to perform his 'spyhopping', which was simply placing his head above water to check his surroundings above the water. What he might find, was far from his suspicions. The whole ocean was covered in a black substance that seemed familiar to him, but that's the point, the ENTIRE ocean is black! Not only that happened, a thought popped up on his mind.

The Dark Sea

Yazhi shivered with uneasiness from his first impression as he pulled himself into a 'swimming swan formation'. These three words came out of the blue, so they shouldn't mean anything to everyone, yet it feels relevant to this drastic event. But Yazhi's deep thoughts was interrupted when he had heard other draconiforms nearby, preferably Aquatic dragons. Planning on going after them, he shoved his thoughts aside and dived down underwater, swimming half as fast as his three pairs of fins are capable of. However, due to the fact that Yazhi is as small as a hatchling, it's very likely that these draconiforms won't notice him approaching. So he sent out a sonar directed towards them, just in case, to let them know that he is here... If they can understand it.

As he swam towards the tribe lands, he suddenly turned back towards another Lakara who seemly was heading in the same direction no doubt about what was happening. Replying as best he could "Yes?! Are you alright?" remaining calm even as the ash continued to darken the waters. Frowning from the sight he hoped for a quick response.

The dragoness would nod in affirment. She was fine. But what about the ocean? What was happening? Why was everything black? Was it the end of the world. The dragoness shook her head, trying to get all of the negative thoughts out of her head. Was it snow? Just…. Black. No, that didn’t make sense either. It never snowed this far out in the ocean, it just wasn’t something that happened. She nervously looked over Arkhor.

“Um, sir, do you know what’s going on? Why is the ocean surface so black?” she asked, sounding more nervous than she had intended to, “Is this something we need to go warn the Orca about?” she asked, though this time her voice sounded more sure, and a bit more steady than it had been before.

Luckily, since most aquatic life could detect sonar, Rapid would feel the vibrations and sound, and flick her ear, turning around in that direction. Looking around for the source, she spotted a small dragon, about 6 feet tall. Man, she was like three times taller than he was, being about 21 feet herself. She watched as he approached. Even though he was small, he didn’t look like a hatchling. She awaited for his approach. Maybe he had something to add to this predicament?

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

Post by Yazhi Mon Jun 26, 2017 1:12 am

When he finally has caught up with the Lakarans, Yazhi looked down to the larger dragons swimming below him. "Ia Ora na!" He whistled, suspecting that they, or at least one of them, could understand his language and whistling was his only method of speaking underwater.
Before the other Lakarans could respond, Yazhi whistled once more with a question in mind, "So you guys are also unaware of what's going on with the ocean as well?"

He doubted that anyone in his tribe would know the main reason why the ocean is covered black, as the Lakarans would rarely tread on land. But it was annoying and infuriating that he doesn't have a single idea on why this just happened. So Yazhi thought he would go to the surface and investigate the source of the problem after this discussion. Feeling that it's what a Salmon would do, especially in times like these.

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

Post by Orsa Sun Jul 16, 2017 1:28 pm

Orsa was swimming near the Lakaran tribe's territory. She had just returned from a hunt, though she found it difficult and nearly frustrating to do her job as Sailfish with such an odd premonition. Orsa had never thought herself to be particularly observant, nor worried, but here she was. She felt as if something bad was going to happen, and it was clouding her ability to hunt for her beloved tribe.

In her maw, she carried a few fish, all of which had taken a very long time for her to get. Suddenly, the ocean began to shake. Tremors went through the water, and in turn, through Orsa. A loud, thunderous sound like nothing she'd experienced in her life rang through her ears. And then suddenly, the ocean went darker. There was less light. She panicked, glancing around and finally up. Had the sun gotten mad? Was it her fault for not doing her job properly?

Ahead of her, she noticed three dragons gathered together. All of them were hopefully Lakarans, and one of them was even blinking out a few Aquatic words. She swam quickly towards them, her jaw tightening around her kills in her anxiety. The sound had stopped, but the ocean was still dark. Maybe the sun WAS mad. She noticed one of them had their head poked through the water, and another had a weird, dark residue around his snout.

"What happened? What's happening? What's going on? Is the sun mad?" Orsa bubbled in Aquatic, trying her best to whistle and talk through the fish. The Orb beside her began to hum, sending vibrations through the water. It was displaying how nervous she was.

Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.] Empty Re: Black Snow [Open][Plot Heavy][Ocean Ver.]

Post by Rapid Thu Aug 03, 2017 6:58 pm

((Ark has told me he has lost interest in this topic, so I will say he swam off to go alert the Orca, or the rest of the tribe, or something.))

It seemed everyone was just very confused. And to be completely honest, Rapid was rather scared herself. This had never happened in her lifetime, after all, and she'd never heard of it happening before. For all she knew, it could mean the end of the world. Her snake like body coiled up a bit, flashing a nervous glance up at the sky, then around at the strangers. Hell, even the fish seemed unnerved by this recent unfolding of events.

Her attention went back to the dragons. Now there were two. There had been one other, but it seemed he must have swam away. Maybe he went to go alert the tribe? Who knows. But regardless, somebody had to figure out what in Layrian's name was going on here. But at the same time... Rapid just really wanted to flee and find somewhere safe to hide.

"I have no clue what's going on!" Rapid flashed back to Orsa in response, her eyes wide. "And I mean, what if the surface is dangerous? I don't want to go near that stuff...." she muttered fearfully.

The water itself felt like it was heating up, as if the sun itself were getting closer to Nuira. If she could sweat, let alone do it underwater, Rapid was sure she'd be doing it right now.

"I-I... don't know what's going on. W-we need to try to stay calm, though." she flashed, her own face betraying what she said.

((@Yahzi has informed that they, too, have lost their muse, and Orsa had given permission to skip her turn. Due to the lack of replies, this topic will be prematurely closed. Though, it did end off with pretty much the same conclusion as Black Snow, despite not being able to get its wings off the ground.))

Ashes rained down from the heavens. Several confused sea dragons, mostly Salmon from the tribe Lakara, noticed the strange occurrence. Panicked by the unusual occurrence, the Lakara conversed amongst themselves about how to deal with this problem. A plight from the gods? In the end, they decided to return to the tribe, to alert the Orca and their fellow Lakarians.
