She-Devil (Short story) Empty She-Devil (Short story)

The wind sliced at his scales and tried to turn his body in all directions. The snow blocked his view of the earth and stung his eyes like a thousand bees. He had to keep going. He had to. His heart drummed to the rhythm of his wings as he flapped them frantically, eyes scanning the angry sky for a way out.

WHAM! A heavy bulk slammed into him from above. Talons like swords dug into his skin and ripped, shredding his sapphire wings. Throwing back his head, the dragon screamed, feeling the air give out from underneath him. His attacker allowed him to fall, hovering in the air for a moment before diving after him.

THUMP! The snow did little to soften his descent, crunching loudly against his scales. Gasping, the dragon groaned, rolling onto his stomach. Keep running, keep running, keep running! he told himself as he got up and ran, leaving trails of blood behind him. The snow slowed him down, which only made him panic when he saw the shadow sweeping in and out of view. He looked up, hearing the soft beating of wings to see the shadow take the form of a white dragon.

Talons slammed into his chest and he fell onto his back with a yelp. He stared into a pair of eyes as blue as the deep ocean. Everything else blurred away, the sounds of the storm ceasing to a faint hum. Those eyes… hard as ice and twice as cruel. Blood trickled from where the blue talons were embedded in his chest. Suddenly, one slipped out to grab the frozen satchel that rested in the snow next to him, attached to his neck by the long strap, turned pale by the storm's effects. Ripping open the satchel, his attacker's eyes narrowed when they found the coins spilling out onto the snow.

The coins he'd been paid to try and kill the very same dragon who was about to kill him.

"W.. wait… please!" he sputtered, watching as she spread her vast wings over him, blocking out the storm. Her tail, armed with spikes and two blades that protruded from the end in the shape of a cyan trident, curled over her head to point down at his throat. This is it… he thought, watching as the electric blue feathers on her back stood on end. "Go to hell… she devil," he spat, mustering the last of his macho to deliver a weak blow.

The wyvern growled, and then her tail shot forward, embedding itself in his throat and then tearing upwards.
