The New Ku'za (closed)
Thump. Thump.
Each four metre spike hit their mark, exactly where she wanted them to. They shimmered like ice under the northern lights, blues and greens dancing through the glass-like structure. They had killed many dragons in their time; taken off limbs, embedded in throats, gouged out eyes. It was ironic, how such pretty things could do so much damage.
Athena lowered her tail and swept it, sending a wave of sand shooting across the ground. She huffed. This is boring, she thought, striding over to the two targets she'd set up and examining her spikes up close. Thanks to her dwelling in such a hot climate, they didn't sparkle like they used to. She didn't care for her appearance, but it was a sign that she wasn't at peak condition. Worrying.
The wyvern sighed and ran the talons on her wing over her face. She'd been announced as Ku'za to the tribe a week ago, and had yet to be approached by any of her subjects. From her understanding, the Ku'zas usually didn't interact with her subjects much, remaining a terrifying, mysterious figure locked up in her castle all the time. Athena couldn't afford such a luxury and she didn't want to. She knew that being a foreigner would not sit well with the tribe and neither would her lack of royal blood. She was exactly what the Ki'sha weren't expecting and she knew she didn't like surprises, so there was bound to be uproar.
She was happy to finally be free of the castle and go practise shooting. It was a pastime that calmed her, but even though she'd spent the better part of an hour firing spikes, she was still agitated. She needed a proper spar, not a stationary target. Although she doubted anyone would approach their queen for a spar, she still hoped someone would.
She glanced around the small arena the Ugaans used for sparring, waiting for someone to show up. Finally losing her patience, she settled for practising lunges and attacks. She crouched, then pounced toward an invisible target, but instead of pouncing on the imaginary dragon, she stopped short and swept her tail, sending a huge wave of sand into her opponent's eyes. She stabbed the air in front of her with her tail, muscles flexing as she deftly weaved between the opponent's talons.
It was boring, but it was exercise.
