Gender: Male
Type: Western dragon
Species:
Age: 746
Date of Birth: 23rd December - Capricorn.
Personality:
Hobbies: He enjoys wandering through forests, relishing in the solitude that they offer. Xoya is massive, sprawling across a considerable portion of Shveki, and under its protection are several towns scattered near the outskirts; he loves paying them visits, typically disguised as an ordinary Xoyan (though he's occasionally recognised, to his amusement) and exploring what they have to offer, even returning time and time again should they earn his affection. In the day, Az inhabits a small, circular room in the Xoyan Palace, one that overlooks the main city; he enjoys simply gazing out at the view, and when there aren't documents to be filled or reviewed, he spends his time reading about the other Tribes and their customs, and learning new languages.

Personality and the Basics

Name: Az
Pronunciation: Eh - zee - kohs
Gender: Male
Type: Western dragon
Species: Smoke dragon
Age: 700
Date of Birth:
Personality: Az is often described by others as having a calm disposition. He is generally composed and rarely, if ever, gets flustered; even in the midst of utter chaos, he's able to keep a cool head and systematically work through the information he has, eventually formulating a solution or, if necessary, an escape route. Sometimes, he's mistakenly perceived as emotionless, but he feels like any other dragon does; he simply chooses to set them aside to make way for logic and rationalisation. As someone who pays close attention to his surroundings, Az is perceptive and can easily discern the personalities of most, and thus knows what to say to get what he wants. This also makes him both a good leader and teammate: He can tell both the physical and mental condition of those under his charge, and will know who needs encouragement, and what kind. While amicable and cordial, it is hard to genuinely get close to him, owing to his packed schedule and his pickiness with company. His sense of humour manifests in the form of dry sarcasm that doesn't change his mild, inflectionless tone of speaking much if at all.

Upon further interaction, Az reveals himself to be quite the impartial individual; he typically withholds his opinions in favour of listening to others', though this is also partly due to his inquisitive nature as well. Az is constantly on the hunt for new information, and isn't averse to new ideas, though he typically doesn't take to them immediately, preferring to stick to an established routine he's determined as reliable. Some describe him as being too quiet, but it's simply because he prefers to let others lead the conversation into new waters; he can, however, adopt a more assertive behaviour should the occasion call for it, laying out his expectations and his concerns clearly and methodically. Sometimes, though rarely, Az can get frustrated, usually marked by his remarks becoming pointed and cutting rather than neutral, as they usually are. At this point, it's better to simply leave him alone and let him fume in silence before calming. His memory is excellent, and he can and will maintain grudges for years, centuries even; once angered, he is slow to forgive, and vicious in his retaliation.
Hobbies: He enjoys wandering through forests; when asked why, he'll usually explain it this way: "They have this sort of - well, magic to them; there's no better descriptor for it, really." Xoya is massive, sprawling across a considerable portion of Shveki, and under its protection are several towns scattered near the outskirts; he loves paying them visits, typically disguised as an ordinary Xoyan, and exploring what they have to offer. Sometimes, just sometimes, he manages to find little gems that earn his affection, and he'll return to them time and time again. (Occasionally, to his amusement, he's recognised.) In the day, Az inhabits a small, circular room in the Xoyan Palace, one that overlooks the main city; he enjoys simply gazing out at the view, and when there aren't documents to be filled or reviewed, he spends his time reading about the other Tribes and their customs, and learning new languages.
Likes: He likes structure and order (though this isn't necessarily an indicator of rigidity.) That's why he's often found organising and / or sorting his papers and books, labelling the former and shelving the latter in alphabetical order. Rationality and practicality both appeal to him hugely, because they're what he operates on and bases most of his decisions off of, including major ones; when presenting new ideas to him it's therefore advised to ensure they're logical. Personally, he also loves a healthy dose of exploration - he loves the thrill of discovering new locations and equally enjoys poking around. He fosters a soft spot for Videbit flowers: imbued with a deep turquoise hue, they're relatively small and are typically found in clusters in the depths of forests, usually conspicuously scattered at the bases of trees and bushes.
Dislikes: He hates the shirking of responsibility; he doesn't see why someone would bother taking up a role if they aren't going to fulfill its duties to begin with. Illogical arguments grate on his nerves, because it can't make for a proper discussion, and more often than not he'll simply drop the topic instead, a warning sign that his patience is wearing thin. Being scorned or disdained irks him as well, particularly when unwarranted, because all Az asks from others is the reciprocation of the basic respect he extends to them, so having it not only ignored but thrown back in his face is an affront.
Fears: Xoya's downfall, because it's all he has; and being exiled from Xoya.

Origin, Culture, and Family

Place of Origin: Shveki's rogue lands
Tribe: Xoya
Position: Kommandant
Language: Fluent in: Xoyan, Universal, Kenarun, Vuarish, Ki'Shin, Arretiz. Learning: Ga'ar, Kurisa.
Home: Small, discreet cottage nestled in the depths of the nearby Xoyan town.
Parents: Alive and unnamed NPCs; he lost contact with them long ago.
Siblings: Hethros - younger brother; rogue, with whom he's on bad terms.
Relatives: Skonis - cousin.
Mate: N/A
Offspring: N/A
History: Az hails from a nomad clan that thrived on trade. Its members were classified into three broad categories - Hunters, Weavers, and Merchants - the last of which Az was eventually sorted into, having lacked the interest in hunting most of his peers did and finding himself embarrassingly incompetent at craftsmanship. It was from there Az began cultivating the skill to talk - he bartered with an array of dragons with varying dispositions on nearly a daily basis, and practised patience with particularly difficult customers. His clan's most frequent stop was the Xoyan city, and while he initially found himself impartial to it, he eventually took to the place and its looming buildings, developing a longing to explore the place without the constraints of being an outsider.

When he expressed his wish to join, a decision he made after months of consideration, the notion was immediately rejected by both his parents - they were wandering nomads, after all, and they were to belong to no one but themselves. Such had been the way of his clan for generations upon generations, and it will remain as such for as long as they existed. It was then Az knew at once he would not be able to bear living on in his clan, where his will would be muffled and his choices ignored, and thus he severed his ties with them, leaving the massive cave the clan had taken shelter in under the cover of night. Skonis, who had been guarding the entrance at that time, let him through, a debt Az swore to repay. After his entrance into Xoyan territory, he was first apprehended by Xoyan guards before he convinced them of his genuine want to join Xoya.

Physical Appearance and Accessories

Height: 75ft.
Length: 180ft; slightly over twice as long as he is tall.
Wingspan: 400ft; 200ft per wing.
Scale/Fur/Feathers: Matte black scales with grey, green and white.
Eyes: Forest green.
Accessories: N/A.
Horns/Spikes: He has a pair of horns that crown his head, plated and curling upwards slightly. He has long, thin spines running along the length of his neck and his back, stopping short of the tip of his tail by a few metres.
Overall Appearance: Az has black scales and ash-grey chestplates that jut out slightly.

Abilities and Strengths

Abilities:
Strengths:
Nimble + stamina + quick reflexes
Weaknesses:
Fighting Style: Conserves his energy and makes seemingly minor strikes at the opponent, luring them into a false sense of security and gradually wearing them down before at last going in for the killing blow.
Magic:
1. Smoke companions
Az has the ability to create copies of himself that, though closely resembling him, are made of smoke and share similar properties in the sense that they cannot be harmed or killed, though they can easily be dispelled by wind. These Smoke Companions of are sentient and are capable of independent thought, though only to a very limited extent. They share a telepathic connection among themselves as well as with Az himself, which they use to relay information back to him and receive instructions, and in a way they act as representatives, acting on Az's behalf; sometimes they serve as messengers, other times as scouts for reconnaissance purposes. They rarely speak, and their voices emerge as muted hisses; this, along with their vaguely hazy edges and red eyes, are easily their most distinct differences from Az. As they are able to modify their opacity, and their "scales" reflect little light, they are excellent at concealing themselves in shadows and eavesdropping. They can also kill through seeping into the respiratory system and travel at 420feet/min.

There are, however, limits:
1. Az can create only two at once, each lasting up to three hours (five of my posts) before dissipating.
2. There is a significant cooldown for this ability, as it is a particularly complex bit of magic that does take a toll. He can only summon one Smoke Companion every five hours (seven of my posts), while creating two prolongs this cooldown to seven hours (nine of my posts.)
3. However, the span of time between the creation of each or both Smoke Companions varies depending on how long they were used for: using a single Companion for three posts or less shortens the cooldown to four of my posts, while using both for the same period of time shortens the cooldown to five of my posts.
4. In the event that both were summoned independently, the restrictions apply separately.
5. This goes without saying, but just in case: Communicating with these Companions is exactly like having a conversation (just considerably more one-sided and mental), so it does halve Az's attention.

2. Veiling
Az is able to transform part of his body into shadow

3. Whips

4. Tendrils

5. Shadow Merging
