Personality: At the prospect of meeting a stranger, Acer is not quick to trust and while he can make it look like he's friendly and stay reserved, he'll be skeptical of someone he hasn't known for a while. Despite this instinctive distrust and scepticism, this attitude can change quickly if he gets to know the other dragon/person, and is willing to give them a chance unless they do something stupid. Acer isn't afraid of failure, but he cam be very analytical and tends to plan things out a lot, criticise them, and refine them before doing something. Since he joined the Ki'Sha, he's picked up on a few manners, both good and bad; while he holds little real power in the tribe he does expect a degree of respect, while he is still shadowed by his mate. Around Scortia he can be rather quiet and never publicly does anything that would deny her wishes.
Hobbies: Acer hunts animals frequently and has always loved flying. He hasn't been bested in a race for decades, and he's better at air combat than he is on the ground.
Likes: He enjoys and finds sport in the hunting of animals as well as friendly combat. He loves to organise events and other dragons. Not necessarily in a control-freak sort of way, but more in a helpful manner, from something small like helping his friends get together or something large like a festival. As was mentioned in the above section, he's a frequent flyer and obviously enjoys it. Having grown up around them, Acer has mixed feelings about humans, but he's generally more fond of them than other dragons.
Dislikes:
Betrayal - he has no remorse for anyone who lies to him through their teeth and tries to bite him in the back.
The cold, or chilly temperatures - as a desert dragon, the cold can be much deadlier to him. At about 15 celsius below freezing point, his muscles slow down and some stop working. Below that there is a possibility of death.
Cannibalism - Something about this really irks Acer. Perhaps it has something to do with his recurring dreams.
Fears: Acer is afraid of death. It sounds simple, but his biggest fear is that the next creature he grows attached to will die before him, and that he'll lose his loved ones. He's also afraid of his tail being eaten, which sounds a little specific, but he gets recurring nightmares of his tail being devoured in a swamp by another dragon.




Place of Origin: Acer was not born in Layria - he is a traveler, and his egg was hatched in a far away land, in a small town called Fariwen.

History: Acer's egg was laid in a desert, although he no longer remembers its name. For thousands of years the desert had been inhabited by fierce desert dragons, and Acer was born to a family of a hornless dragon species. It was the year his egg was laid that almost the entire fire dragon population was to migrate. As his parents could not carry every egg and child, he was left behind. A patrol from the local human village came across his cave and decided to take him back, not knowing what to do with him. While they all bickered over whether he should be cooked, killed, or kept as a pet, he hatched from his egg and crawled away unnoticed.
A boy found him hiding in the corner of his room. He pitied the creature. By now the other humans had realised the object of their argument had just vanished. The boy, Navine, told the lord of the village he would raise the dragon himself, and agreed to let Acer serve under the lord once he reached maturity.
Years passed as the two grew up together. When he was thirteen, the lord thought that it would suit Navine to train him in swordsmanship, not long after his mother passed away. When the time came and Acer blew his first breath of flame, he fulfilled Navine's agreement for a short while, serving the lord and his garrison. Once war came, however, he was sent to the capital to receive his armour and his claw blades to fight.  
It was on the road home that Acer's group was ambushed. They were outnumbered, and Navine was speared through the gut. With the aid of a grown dragon, the attackers were chased off and there were few in his group that survived to go home. In the middle of the night, Acer left the village. There was nothing for him there, he'd decided. He packed his armour and few prized belongings, and he flew away.



Height: 28 feet high(casual position).
Length: When in a standing position, 55 feet. When in a low stance, 64 ft.
Wingspan: Acer has a relatively large wingspan of 80 feet, from wingtip to wingtip.
Scale/Fur/Feathers: His scales are a sandy yellow-green khaki colour. His skin is mottled with various yellows and dark greens to camouflage himself against the sand and the desert.
Eyes: Acer's irises are lime green.
Accessories: Acer carries a well-polished set of full dragon armour. Some of it is just hardened steel but it is mostly made of titanium, making the armour light-weight but still just as strong. His helmet is decorated with two amethyst-like hard crystals. These crystals had some kind of empowering effect on a dragon's fire breath a some time ago, but it's long gone. Wether it's effects are still active is a different question.
Armor: As was mentioned in the accessories, he does own titanium plate armour, which can cover his entire body except for;
The wing membranes,
His armpits(or legpits, in this case),
His tail,
His jaw,
Sometimes his inner elbow,
And there are other small gaps in his armour, but even if a claw or weapon were to get into the gap, he could shift his body and the weapon would be stuck between the plates around it.

While he also has chainmail that can be very effective at stopping teeth, he doesn't wear any kind of gambeson or shock protection - his scales suffice.
That said, he almost never walks around in full armour. Especially in the desert, where heat is still a problem, even for a fire dragon. Sometimes he'll take a helmet when out and about, but the armour is a bit of a relic from darker times.
Horns/Spikes: Because Acer is a Protusionless Fire Draconic, he has no horns, spikes, or other bony protrusions except for his claws, which are kept sharp and are 4.8 feet long.
Overall Appearance: Acer has a somewhat skewed body/tail length ratio. His tail is 34 feet long and his main body is 21 feet long. This is because of Acer's high density body, legs, and head. Even with Acer's large wingspan and flying power, the tail is still important for stabilisation in-flight and on the ground.


Abilities: Acer's only ability other than his physical abilities is his fire breath. He can breathe jets of flame reaching 20 meters(about 65 feet) at temperatures around 1,600 degrees Celsius. Strangely enough, he's found that this can also help weaken or cancel out magical effects. After he expends the fire from his body, which is easy to do at full blast, he likely won't be able to use it again for the duration of the fight.
Strengths: He is a very quick flyer and has great agility in the air, even with armour on(the armour does not impede his agility or movement, but with prolonged wearing of it, he'll be noticeably tired. In good conditions he can reach speeds of up to 28 m/s). In full armour and against a dragon of similar size he's incredibly difficult to defeat or even hurt. He's good at analysing and thinking about situations or the practicality of something, a mindset which he got mostly from part of his time with the humans
Weaknesses: Acer is a bit on the small side of the spectrum, meaning he isn't as powerful or as tough as bigger dragons. He can grow very attached to someone and would do anything for them, which can be exploited. In his armour he's very easy to hear because of the light clinking sounds the plates make as he moves. Being used to the heat of the desert and the tropics of his home country, very cold climates will turn him away as he cannot regulate his body temperature in freezing cold environments.
Fighting Style: Against another dragon, Acer is very much a brawler. His plate armour makes him almost immune to claw attacks, while his razor sharp claw blades can easily pierce a dragon's scales.
Magic: Acer himself is not capable of directly manipulating magic, but his armour and fire breath have passive magical effects.
