Kiokr Empty Kiokr

Post by Savan Mon Jun 18, 2018 4:40 pm

Personality and the Basics

Name: Kiokr
Titles: The Silent Wanderer, The Lonely Guardian, Ghost of Nuira
Pronunciation: Key-Oh-ker
Gender: Male
Type: Western Dragon
Species Aethrik Dragon

--Summary--

Aether, or Aethereal dragons, were an exceptionally rare breed, said to be ancient and powerful. Of average size and stature, females were said to be graceful, while males appeared athletic boasting a larger height of around five feet than their feminine counterparts.

Aethereal society was well known to be surprisingly matriarchal, as the ratio of females outmatched that of males by a ten to one scale. Because of this, males were the highest prize and protected by the most powerful or ruling females. Second to this prize were Essence crystals. Aside from using males as trophies and status, they were used as hunting combatants during great hunts, as males were exceptional at killing great beasts and able to take more hits than a female would.

As was taught by Keelai in the first texts of the Ksheeli, males were to be treated equally and respectfully, as abuse from a female to her mate meant she was forfeit of keeping her lineage, though this punishment could be absolved through redemption.

Bondship between a male and female was considered sacred, though permanent relations weren’t a thing until the earlier ages when their numbers began to dwindle. No soul knows what became of the Aether species, as they disappeared countless ages ago.

Age: 120
Date of Birth: March 19th
Personality:

Despite his crude self-upbringing, Kiokr grew up to be a very compassionate dragon, even if most of those he wished to help perished soon after their meeting. There still remains a vague semblance of hope inside him that seems to slowly die with each death of a friend or potential ally. If one can get past his silent demeanor they will find that Kiokr is an honest, practical dragon who has an extreme sense of selflessness to those he holds close, and feels he has an obligation to help or defend them, much to the detriment of himself. He can be stubborn at times, though to a minimal degree, and is fair to those around him. He is very observant and tries his best to make sure his friends are at least content with him, and always seems to have a small indulgence to how a dragon reacts to him. Even though he appears seldom shy, he is instantly brought out of it when his cooking skills are called upon, or challenged.

Behind this dragon lies a slough of flaws and issues that crop up every now and again. Kiokr is insecure about himself, feeling that he may not live up to what his friends expect of him. He often feels anxious, or blames himself harshly for mistakes he makes.

Normally when Kiokr sleeps, he curls up into a tight ball, sometimes snuggling his own scarf after stressful days. When stressed, Kiokr occasionally comforts/massages one of his front paws with the other.

Hobbies:

Wandering/Exploring - Wandering and exploring in his spare time allows Kiokr to think more clearly, and helps him solve issues over time while discovering new locales. He also enjoys it simply to admire the beauty of Nuira and let the worries of the world flow away.

Reading - Kiokr is a literal Bookworm. During certain days he’ll be completely engrossed in ancient tomes, usually acting in a cranky/absent manner if he’s trapped in a particularly good one.

Hunting - Kiokr lives for the hunt, he eagerly partakes in any event involving those of great and powerful monstrosities.

Cooking - Others may not know or like it, but Kiokr wants to become one of the greatest chefs known to Nuira. He takes cooking challenges with a bigger stride.

Likes:

Books - Books, god Kiokr loves books.

Artifacts - Kiokr has an affinity towards ancient objects of power and importance. If left unchecked, he may just create a hoard of them. Chefs get a friendship discount on trades.

Savory Food - The spice must flow, and so too the salt. For life is short and all must be merry.

Culinary Arts - Kiokr loves to cook, and will not hesitate to accept a challenge of such or provide for those he deems an ally.

Tickled - Kiokr is sensitive to soft touch. Poke his sides for double damage.

Dislikes:

Showing Weakness - He knows how to live, he doesn’t need an apothecary or servant to use as a crutch.

Touchy Paws - Kiokr really hates it when someone is handling his frying pan, or slobbering over his tail spike.

The Past - Kiokr clams up or tries to steer the subject when his past, or the predicament of his species’ fate, is mentioned or pressed.

Loneliness - It gnaws at the back of his mind, he may say he copes with it, but sometimes his fights are more than just territorial disputes.

Focal Point - Kiokr reacts badly when he is the center of attention, or the one to speak in front of large crowds, he much prefers others speak for him, or to simply not partake at all. In other words he is very shy.

Fears:

Loss - Kiokr cannot stand the fact of losing someone even barely close. If those he regards as kith were to be lost, it would tear him apart.

The last of his kind - Like a haunt, Kiokr seems to occasionally be in some sort of worry, desperate to know if he is the last of his kind or not.

Losing his personal scarf - Kiokr’s scarf is more than just a fabric of ancient weave, it is his security blanket, and only means of soft embrace he’ll feel.

Abandonment - Even if he manages to find friendship, what’s to say they will double cross him? Betray him in his time of need?

Purpose: Never amounting to anything, these trains of thoughts always derail into anxiety attacks and end in mental breakdowns. This fear was created when his hatchling friend was killed; she had a dream of becoming the strongest dragon, and in a sense he has taken over this goal.

Quotes: “When I find whoever put me in that vault, I’m going to ask them… why? And then… I don’t know...”

History:

There was never a chance Kiokr would have survived from the place he hatched, there was no chance at all to grow up the way he did; in an ancient vault of powerful magic and prophecy, one that revolved around him. Though this prophecy has been long forgotten and beyond its original meaning and path, it has miraculously provided Kiokr with immense luck, for better, or worse.

Kiokr hatched amidst a series of shattered Weave crystals, helpless and hungry, his cries would be answered by none, before his tiny nostrils miraculously found its way to nearby food. Several weeks would pass and no matter the strength of his cries nothing but the occasional whistling of wind throughout the beautifully adorned cave would answer back. Eventually his cries stopped, and a silent, tiny hatchling would wander about the softly lit cave, finding curios and other such items he had no knowledge of. In time the food within the cave would be exhausted, and the hatchling would have to find his way out of the dilapidated entrance of the cave, foraging for food, while keeping an extreme caution about his surroundings.

One fateful day, Kiokr would unexpectedly come across another hatchling while foraging, hiding in a lucrative patch of mushrooms. After a short, futile battle that devolved into them rolling around the patch more than actual combat, though before a swipe could be dealt, they were forced to work together to escape a large predator. After several close calls, and a formal introduction of the two, they became instant friends. Daemon, a dragoness who was ousted from her community for having a radiant array of prismatic scales, always thought she was superior to Kiokr, would become his closest friend, as he was to hers. A jubilant, bombastic dragoness, her loud personality complimented his silent demeanor. Despite occasional wrestling matches, and bouts of wit, they would always be evenly matched, never one beating the other.

This dream would end a year later when Kiokr lost the most precious thing he held dear. Exploring further into the forest that surrounded them, Daemon and Kiokr would be attacked by an adult dragon. With little time to react as it came barreling out of the brush. The last thing Kiokr would see of Daemon was a tearful, terrified expression, just before the dragon’s jaws crushed her tiny body.

From then on he would be mentally scarred, suffering from constant nightmares of that terrible day, as with other lesser events leaking in to take a turn at torturing his life.

Several years would pass, and a whelpling would eventually learn about his home, a vault of sorts built in honor of a dragon named [KIOKR]. Eventually he would come to take the name as his own, adorning himself with what lay around him.

By the time he had become an adult, Kiokr learned to hunt large game, read what barely legible books he could find, and understand just enough of the world outside of his secure home. He had seen others similar to his form, though stayed far away, even staying in his vault den when they were too close, though unfortunately his first meeting with one ended with unavoidable violence, resulting in him killing the intruder, and leaving Kiokr gravely injured. Years of holding onto understanding, and Kiokr would realize just how cruel the world was.

To cement that understanding, Kiokr would be ambushed by an intelligent predator, a Thcirjal, that he would clash with. The hunt took through a swath of Gaiyan Forest as the two chased one another back and forth, the hunt itself lasting two days. The final confrontation would happen over a cliff, both bloodied from their short, brutal skirmishes, they fought to the bitter end. After missing one last Aether bolt from Kiokr, the ground below them would give way after a boulder would be loosened by the impact, sending them both tumbling to the ground below blacking Kiokr out. He would awaken in the embrace of a dead Thcirjal, its body having been impaled by several stalagmites; Kiokr would be much more fortunate, having only broken the same front left left as he had done as a whelpling years ago. He would drag the corpse back to his home, butchering it and taking the lethal scythe from its tale as an ornament.

Eventually wanderlust began to take over, and the reclusive dragon eventually prepared for a voyage to learn about the world beyond the vault. With one last look, he went beyond the grove and into the beyond.

Before he left to explore the world, Kiokr would read a prophetic script chiseled into the pillar he fell from, of a dragon uniting the Ksheeli, a dragon he believes to have been himself, and everything within was to help prepare him for the trials he was forgotten from. While the prophecy haunts him, he sees the destiny he was to embark on in a negative light, and deep down he knows that it’s a shattered prophecy; in the end nobody came.

Kiokr believes his kind is still out there, perhaps even the Ksheeli… but sometimes the truth is harder to bear than he may realize.

Physical Appearance and Accessories

Height: 25ft.
Length: 30ft.
Wingspan: 45ft.
Scale/Fur/Feathers: Semi-smooth dark scales with a mauve muzzle and streaks dancing across his body.
Eyes: Black Scleras. Topaz Eyes.
Accessories:

Exotic scarf pack - Laden across his chest and neck, three buckles keep it in organized chaos as he wanders, various symbols of unknown origin appear now and then. It doubles as a small pack when needed. Exceptionally soft and waterproof yet of durable weave, a hatchling could fall asleep instantly wrapped in this.

Kiokr’s Frying Pan - A frying pan of large proportions, capable of holding and cooking multiple pieces at once. It is well used and surprisingly well kempt. The pan is made of cast iron with pouring grooves, with several faint engravings around the pan’s surface, heavily noted to be enchanted runes. After such a long time under heavy use, it appears worn though still brand new from its first creation. It can be used as a weapon in a pinch.

Bandolier: A large bandolier strapped across Kiokr’s chest, holding oddities and curios attracted by Kiokr’s eye, as well as important items for healing and bartering.

Small Essence Crystal - A small insignificant crystal that has been imbued with regenerative properties. It can’t change a battle in its owner’s favor, but it can give Kiokr enough Essence to bring him out of a Dryout. It takes about a week to fully recharge its Essence pool. It glows a brilliant blue, with its crystalline structure being a beautiful sapphire hue.

Lantern Crystal - A utility artifact of possible Ksheeli origin, it glows a brilliant set of violets beneath his scarf, with an ornate handle attacked at the top. It has helped Kiokr find his way through the darkest places of Nuira and is is able to focus its light into that of a wide beam flashlight. It seems to only react to Kiokr’s touch, and can change to a multitude of light spectrums, but returns to a dim storm of violets, and shuts off if ever stealth is required.

Thcirjal Scythe - A slightly curved, sharp blade that was once attached to a Thcirjal, it’s blade is still honed after all these years, and is made as an ornament for his armor.

Armor:

Rough hewn armor of a few metals and straps, it protects little of Kiokr, but it’s at least practical. A Thcirjal Scythe is bedecked on his left shoulder, tied down with several straps.

Horns/Spikes: Two black horns on his head with a small layering of bone on the top portion. A spike on the base of either side of his jaw juts shortly backwards.
Overall Appearance:

Kiokr appears in the colors of a dark gray and deep violet dragon with purple trailing about the inky scales. Exotic markings dance about his body, intermixing with the subtle beauty while a splash of violet ends upon his maw. A pair of white horns armored from the front with a layer of bone arc backwards like a lazy thunderbolt, while another set juts from his jaws backward. Trailing down his back are talon-shaped spines with a light plum color on the main piece while the inner curve sports a deeper color, ending at his tail in which a spade-like spike with a similar color and stripe completes the set. On his chest, once more deep purple scales hug against his body near the base of his tail. His wings sport the same dark tone, while a deep violet graces the membrane of his wings.

Perhaps unnerving to most dragons is his unique jaw structure. Split down the middle are two independent mandibles fitted with rows of sharp teeth, they can be combined to appear like a single jaw, though there will always be the subtle divide down the chin.

Abilities and Strengths

Abilities:

Aether Element

Aether is what many consider to be the space between Realms; the breath of creation. A dragon who wields this element, wields among the most unique elements to ever exist. Theoretically speaking, Aether is a poorly understood element simply for the fact only one dragon of many extinct species possesses this power, and the only experiences one may use to better learn it are hidden within forgotten texts inside Tribal libraries.

The primary way an Aether dragon produces this type of element is through an evolved organ called the Aetheria. It is generally unknown how it works, but it allows the dragon to absorb Essence more efficiently from Essence crystals. It also maintains an equilibrium within and is also invoked in the dragon’s overall health as well, allowing for accelerated healing, though with the drawback of the Aether dragon requiring a small amount of Essence circulating at all times, or the dragon begins to suffer from a weakened state (See Weaknesses).

Other dragons or beings that can draw Essence from creatures or their surroundings will find it harder to draw it from an Aether dragon; a possible natural defense against a potential Dryout.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/Electrical Breath
Range: 200 Feet/ 91 Meters. 10ft/ 3 Meter Arcs.
Speed: Narratively Near Instantaneous/ 50 mph/ 22 M/s
Power: Strong; Agonizing when hit. Will leave electrical burn marks from the primary stream on both surfaces and bodies.
Traits: An aligned, staggering stream of electricity is emitted from Kiokr’s maw, snapping towards its intended target, this form of electricity has little attraction to grounding rods and ferrous materials despite its chaotic nature, this is due to abnormal properties within the discharge itself and the large Fulgur Gland that emits it. It can potentially slow targets.
Stress: Kiokr can execute this ability with prolonged use without much consequence, and is the least taxing of abilities in his arsenal. Considering his limited pool of Essence, he can project this ability for roughly 3-5 minutes, around (10) Posts.

A solid, staggering stream of bright blue electricity is emitted from Kiokr’s maw, snapping towards its intended target, ionizing the air around it as smaller arcs pop and crackle outwards with unpredictability.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/Aether Comet
Range: 500 Feet/ 152 Meters
Speed: Narratively insanely Fast/ 90 mph/ 40 M/s. Has decent homing capability, can be outmaneuvered through clever means; Hiding behind cover/evasive maneuvers.
Power: Severe; It will leave a mark. 3 Feet/ 1 Meter Explosion.
Cooldown: (7) Posts. Narratively around two to four minutes
Traits: A glowing orb like projectile, the Aether Comet tracks dragons though any sort of environment, though it is still relatively dumb, as it cannot tell between cover and open space; will collide with hard surfaces if the dragon is able to his/herself behind cover.

A strong projectile with weak homing capabilities produced from Kiokr’s maw. It is able to track a dragon up until its max range, before destabilizing and exploding. Kiokr focuses on the target before firing, it will not change targets after it is fired.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/Aether Beam (DORMANT)
Range: 400 Feet/ 122 Meters
Speed: Narratively Instantaneous.
Power: Critical; You will feel it, and it will hurt.
Cooldown: (5) Posts. Narratively a few minutes.
Traits: (1) Post charge up. Pierces up to the thickest and most magic resistant of armor. Able to cause serious knockback, able to send most dragons flying a couple meters.
Stress: Heavy drain on Essence, can only be fired twice during a battle; A third shot will send Kiokr into a Dryout. Kiokr will need a long rest if he is to use this ability again.

A beam of pure Aether is charged and then snapped at the target, piercing through armor while searing flesh and surfaces alike. The beam is powerful, but short lived. Narratively it exists up to five seconds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/Aether Fizzle: A strange ability where Kiokr distorts the space around him, causing him to flicker into a multitude of himself; after images and hallucinogenic effects. This is mostly used as a scare/intimidation tactic and does nothing else but the aforementioned. It has little to no tactical benefit otherwise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aether Barrier (DORMANT)
Range - Encompasses the entire dragon.
Power - Can deflect any attack. Telepathic attacks are weakened, but not entirely blocked.
Cooldown - Half a day, will not activate if Kiokr has insufficient Essence.
Traits - The barrier moves with Kiokr, using him as an anchor point, thus anything that isn’t maliciously attacking will be allowed through, in other words it can phase through the ground to allow movement without it repelling the environment. It can be dispelled at will.
Stress - Kiokr can only endure up to (5) attacks, and can maintain this for up to an hour. Duress from attacks does not shorten its lifespan. Executing this barrier takes a sizable chunk of his Essence pool.

Strengths:

Extreme Environmental Adaptation [Temperatus Organ] - Through scorching sand, or frigid snow, Aether dragons seem to thrive in almost any environment. This allows them to have a wide variety of prey items available when one of many locations becomes scarce. Serious injury however can severely weaken this strength, which can eventually lead to exposure to the elements.

A small specialized organ controls a secondary webway of non-voluntary muscles that produces thermal variations within the body to adjust to the environment, they contract when it is cold, and expand when it is hot.

Accelerated Healing Factor - Kiokr’s body is able to heal at an incredible rate, with grievous wounds healing in roughly half the time. This does make Kiokr hungry however. It should be noted that healing still takes time, and a weaker body due to sickness or malnutrition means a weaker determinant of the strength.

Aether dragon biology is quite foreign, and seems to reveal an extreme evolutionary path, and quite possibly an extremely hostile environmental origin. The body produces a more effective system of cells responsible for healing the body, though much of the Immunitary system such as the thymus remains largely unchanged. The blood of Kiokr is able to help save a dragon suffering from blood loss or severe injury, and his blood supply replenishes quicker than normal.

Clever - Kiokr has an excellent history of adapting to the flow of combat and solving problems, and has led several small rogue groups to victory against marauders.

Rogue Talent - Kiokr has trained himself to be an extraordinary warrior, especially in hunting. He is able to go against most veterans and is seen to be muscular and well toned.

Patient - A virtue Kiokr understands well. No matter how hostile or pressing a situation, he seems to always tap into an infinite reserve of patience for others.

Weaknesses:

Distrust - Kiokr doesn’t show it much, but he would prefer to do his own chores and actions. He doesn’t trust others with sensitive matters pertaining to himself, and feels offended when others finish the task for him. He doesn't have much trust in anyone, even his friends are barely exempt from this, and is ultimately more difficult to gain his trust.

Magnified Fear - Though Kiokr’s mind isn’t weak, should a dragon with telepathic faculty breach it and implant anything doubtful or hostile, it will run itself quickly into his mind. It will steadily decrease Kiokr’s effectiveness in battle or focus, making it hard for him to discern imaginary from reality, making him vulnerable.

No Mistakes - Pushed by the death of his hatchling friend, Kiokr drives himself to further his body and mind, often far past his own limits. He’s made a goal to keep any friends of his from harm, and he'll do whatever it takes to see them unharmed. This may lead to unsavory and dangerous situations leading to his endangerment.

Recurring Nightmares - Kiokr may be subject to terrible nightmares of previous experiences, primarily the death of his old friend when they were mere hatchlings, watching a horrifying dragon crush her beneath its jaws, it’s haunted him to this day. Other recurring nightmares such as near death experiences as a youngling or failing to save another dragon haunt him among countless others. These happen at least once a week. He becomes extremely stressed, and may lash out if he is confronted during this moment. But it’s painfully obvious he has experienced something traumatic during this moment, with fear and anxiety taking over his sense of reason.

Aetheria Organ [Weak]: Kiokr’s abilities tax heavily from his energy reserves, if he’s not careful, he might exhaust himself of the Essence within. If this happens, it can hamper his effectiveness in combat, and if repeatedly drained or if such a process is used to take the Essence from him, can lead to a ‘Dryout’ (See Dryout below). Since Kiokr is the only of his kind and has little way of learning how to exercise his abilities in strengthening the Aetheria, it can lead to major issues in fights.

Dryout: A well recorded phenomena within Aether dragons from ancient texts, where the dragon in question drains their Essence pool to a point where an insufficient amount is able to circulate within the Aetheria, and begins to adversely affect the Aether dragon. If this happens, the Aether dragon becomes ill, and if not rectified with any form of Essence or energy back into their body soon, may lead to death. One may also be able to drain the Essence from the dragon, though they will find it increasingly difficult.

Fighting Style:

Kiokr’s tactics usually change with his opponents, but he always tries to keep himself at a close enough range if there are ever complications with range.

Magic:
