First topic message reminder :

Caramina rarely concerned herself with the current affairs of the Stormcallers. She had never seen any need to do so, nor had the wish.

But what if? The dragoness found herself thinking suddenly as she strolled through one of the many winding corridors that curved around the Twilight Palace, taking a route that had long grown familiar to her. The marble floor was cool against her paws, pristine and elegant, their shine untouched by time. What if? As a citizen, she had no obligation to tangle herself in the web of complications that involving herself in current affairs undoubtedly encompassed, and even if she wanted to, she had no idea how. But with the new rank that the new Rulers, Solarlight and Darksky, introduced, it was a possibility.

Well, she'd consider it. It wasn't like she was running short of time, anyway, Caramina thought as she arrived at the Library, the doors swinging open at a gentle push to reveal her favourite place in the whole world. Shelves seemed to unfurl away from the entrance, their bodies bursting with books. A high ceiling allowed some sunlight to creep through as gentle rays, giving the room a warm radiance to it. Armchairs littered the large space, comfortable, plush and promising a well-spent, relaxing afternoon.

And then her gaze fell upon Solarlight and Darksky.

They were browsing through books, seeming to be searching for something. Their presence once more brought to mind the matter she'd planned to mull over later, especially since this would be a good chance to volunteer herself as adviser. She stood at the entrance uncertainly, the doors falling closed behind her with a click. Realising that it'd be rude to not greet the new Rulers, she went over to do so. "Greetings, your Royal Majesties," she greeted with a teasing smile.

As she recounted, with no small amount of fondness, her interactions with the previous Rulers, Caramina watched the twins with a curious gaze, but was unable to tell anything about their thoughts from their expressions. Giving a mental shrug, she turned her gaze to in front of herself, not wanting to accidentally walk into a pillar as she often had in the past. For all her outward grace, she could be a massive klutz at times.

However, she could tell that they seemed strangely... Relieved at her question, as if they had expected something more personal. Personal - of course! It hit her barely after the thought passed: Yes, their odd joined state would have attracted a lot of unwanted attention, would have been the subject of insensitive taunts and jokes. She gave an inward sigh at the sheer audacity of dragons who would be low enough to do that, and swore that as long as she was around, not a single one of these jokes would be uttered.

Caramina provided a nod when it was due to show that she was listening, taking a few bites of her food while Solarlight and Darksky explained their situation. "Glasoc seems to know a lot," she remarked, somewhat surprised, "but hey, that's good. You two don't have to work out everything on your own. But I'd love to see you two in action," she added, finishing off the last of her lamb chop and standing up. If Solar and Sky were done, she would lead them down spiralling staircases, emerging out onto a large space just behind the palace. A cement floor took up most of the space, and some parts were blacked and burned, results from training that had been performed by other dragons.

Getting onto one side, she shifted into a defensive stance that would easily allow her to move forward. "Ready?" Cara asked with an excited grin, a light breeze picking up.

The twins smiled at Cara’s surprise at how much Glasoc knew. Sky began to finish the piece of elk she had on her plate while Solar smiled and nodded. The old wyvern did know a lot, along with Yian. Solar took his last fish and finished it before looking back at the dragoness, and saying, ”Yeah. He used to be a Diplomat, but after his vocal camber got damaged he became a Scholar. Solar thought again for a second. ”It’ll be neat to see what ya got too.”

Once they were done both dragons followed their friend into the training area. It was scorched from other training that had taken place. Sky smiled, thinking back to the training her and Solar had with Yian and Glasoc. Everything from getting a rein on their magic to learning telekinesis. It made them smile. Care then asked if they were ready. The pair quickly got ready, with Solar’s side ahead of his sister’s. Sky then answered the pair’s friend. ”We’re ready if you are.”

Post by Artemise Sat Aug 04, 2018 11:28 pm

The question she'd asked in the dining hall had only been one of many that had slowly accumulated from when Caramina had first met the twins, a few months back on the fringes of rogue territory. She had refrained from asking more, for at that very moment she'd thought of a perfect method to get answers for most of her questions with minimal confusion. After all, nothing could ever compete with firsthand experience.

Did they have any breath abilities? If so, could they use both at once? Did their throats join (not in the mouth, but deeper in?) How many lungs did they have? Only one pair? Then would they get less energy than the average dragon? All these questions... She'd find out soon enough. Very, very soon, actually.

"I'm always ready," was her response before the breeze swirled into a full on gale that howled and screeched, sending up dust and whipping her mane left and right. Picking up a sword that lay at the side of the arena, she tossed it to Solar, and took another for herself. She remained motionless as the wind shifted and blew, hard, against Solar and Sky. They turned into claws that ripped and scratched, while Cara ran forward with the sword steady in her hands, ready to swing it up, while an wind invisible shield formed in front of her.

The twins smiled and Solar caught the sword. They could feel the wind hitting them, and a glow entered each heads maw. Solar then said, "Alright. If ya say so." Soon, two beams of magic left the twins' maws. Solar's was a gold while Sky's was a purple. Cara may have noticed the beams were raw magical energy. It may have only been able to throw someone back and slightly burn, but it was something. After this, the pair prepped themselves for whatever Cara was going to throw at them.

An Aspiring Adviser [Private - Solarlight and Darksky] - Topic Ended - Page 3 Empty Re: An Aspiring Adviser [Private - Solarlight and Darksky] - Topic Ended

Post by Artemise Tue Aug 07, 2018 10:53 pm

She wasn't dumb enough to run at two mouths who were possibly capable of producing some kind of breath attack. Hence the wind shield, used at its strongest. Normally, she wouldn't have risked such a reckless move, running straight at her opponent, even shielded; but this was a mere spar, and she wanted to test how effective her shields would be against their attacks.

She found out soon enough. The impact of gold and purple slamming against her shield stopped her in her tracks, and not very gently at that. Caramina staggered back slightly, but her grip on the sword was steady, even as she made her shields disappear at the last of the coloured beams to, once again, test something - how badly affected she would be. Black splotches marred her pale surface as a result, standing out starkly, and she winced but didn't hesitate, once more going on the offence.

Caramina willed the winds towards Solarlight and Darksky again, who would be able to feel the shift in the air; if they moved 6ft and further away from where they were currently standing, and did it fast enough, they would be able to avoid the worst of her ability; if not, both would feel the sharp, sudden pain of many paper-cut-like wounds appearing all over their legs in an attempt to hinder their movement. She didn't stop there, though, swinging the sword up in a seemingly harmless arc, when in reality she was at the same time carving the arc of a curved wind blade arrowing towards the twin's shared chest. Not hard enough to cripple them permanently, for it was very blunt... But capable of knocking them backwards.

The pair watched as Caramina's shield managed to block there breath attacks. It was definitely interesting. They didn't think that wind could stop raw magical energy, but there it was. Maybe it was because the control was still magic based, or that it could be hardening the air. Either way, it was something to remember.

The pair then felt the wind shift. They quickly tried to move back, but their forelegs soon felt like they were getting cut. Sky closed her eyes for a second, having less pain resistance then her brother, but soon they both felt something else. The pair had noticed Cara swing her sword through the air, but soon realized why. The were hit by a blunt force to their chest and knocked them back. It hurt, especially since it managed to hit there mid-line first, but it didn't do any real damage. Solar looked at his sister, who again looked like she was hurt more. The pair had a fun little idea though.

A golden glow soon surrounded the twins' sword and the sword soon jumped towards Cara, stopping close to her, and tapping the sword in her paw. It then moved into a guarded position, looking like it was ready to fight. As this happened, the twins tried to sneak around, with Solar keeping his eyes on the sword, and Sky lead them around.

Much to her satisfaction, the wind blade found the mark, thudding solidly against the twins. Fortunately, they hadn't been injured too badly, only knocked back by the force of her ability. That was good. No matter how casual a spar was intended to be, it could turn disastrous with a lapse of attention.

Caramina couldn't help but exclaim in surprise when a soft golden glow began emanating from the twins' sword. While her own sword was held in a defensive position, the flat side facing where she presumed Solarlight and Darksky to be, she couldn't help but be momentarily distracted by the shining sword. How on Nuira had they managed that? Some magicks? She'd have to ask them to do it again later.

Cautiously, she send a blade of wind to push at the blade from below, while moving forward to tentatively poke it with her sword.

The glowing sword soon hit Caramina's saber again, this time harder. It came around with its flat side where it would hit her, as apposed to the blade. The odd spectacle continued as the twins finally crept around to their friend's side. The pair looked at each other for a second and smiled.

The sword had kept up it's fight, but soon, the glow dissipated and the sword fell. It hit the floor with a clang, seeming to do nothing now. But Cara would soon get another surprise. As the sword fell, the twins began to run at her. They then leaped into the air, ready to pounce her.

Where did it get its strength from? Caramina couldn't help but wonder, even in the midst of battle. Would it be able to best a dragon's? Come to think of it, did its strength come from their owners--or only one owner?

Well, it was time to find out.

The reverberations of the two swords clashing shuddered up her arm, but her grip was steady as she pushed against the blade, attempting to force it back. There was no body to kick at, no paw to dislodge from the sword's handle; what was she to do? Attack its owners?

Speaking of which, where were they?

She had been so transfixed by the magic of the sword's seemingly own free will that she'd forgotten about Solarlight and Darksky. Cursing herself, she cast her gaze around in frantic search, just as the force against her blade ceased, and the opponent sword fell lifeless to the ground with a clatter. This briefly drew her startled attention back to the motionless metal on the ground, before she heard steps against the ground.

Instinctively, Caramina turned around, before once more cursing herself she saw a whirl of black and white before the weight of the twins bore her onto the ground. Summoning a strong gust of wind to aid her, she attempted to push the twins off with her arms, the gust, as well as a flat blade of wind.

(Sorry for taking so long.)

The twins seemed happy as they managed to pin Cara. They were surprised at how easily they had done. It just seemed too good. Solar and Sky quickly learned that it was too easy as they were sent hit by the Adviser's arms, a gust of wind, and another blunt blast of wind hit them. The combined efforts easily threw them off, pushing them a good ways away from Cara.

The pair panted as a purple glow now cover the sword. It soon flew towards the twins, coming to rest in Sky's paw. The pair were getting tired, but still seemed determined.

I took longer. --

Caramina, despite her familiarity with her wind, wasn't sure whether her efforts were enough to get Solarlight and Darksky off. That would suck; the air had been crushed out of her body with the pounce, and the fact that they were pretty much sitting on her right now really didn't help.

But, much to her relief, they were pushed off, and Cara struggled to her feet at once, drawing in deep breaths and quickly recovering. She had no idea what the purple glow would do, but didn't hesitate as she made two slashing motions with her wings, sending crossed blades of wind right towards Solarlight and Darksky's combined chest; it was easily dodgeable, because they'd seen her perform the move, but it only served as a distraction while blades came from left and right. They were grey smoke, visible, and simply rolling would avoid all three.

(I too much longer)

The twins both looked as the three wind blades flew their way. The pair new they had to move quickly to avoid being hit, but one of Solar and Sky's biggest weaknesses soon came into play. They both tried to roll away in opposite directions, only causing the joined pair of Rulers to stumble. This wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't sparring. The twins were soon hit by all three blades, and knocked back by the attack.

Solarlight and Darksky looked at each other. The female of the pair seemed to be hurting at this point, and Solar knew it. Sure, she wasn't actually hurt too bad. Sky's ability to withstand pain just wasn't the best. The brother of the two looked over at Caramina as they slowly got up. "I think now's a good time for a break."

Tell me if Cara seems too overpowered, okay? --

Caramina had deliberately sent the twins an easily dodgeable attack—after all, she wasn't fighting to kill, nor aiming to win. She was only sparring with them to test and train both her and their abilities, as well as, perhaps, enjoy herself a little, for words could grow boring and her mouth weary of speaking them. However, Solarlight and Darksky—who both wisely tried to roll—went in opposite directions, and their attached body yanked them back together, the blades hitting them squarely in the chest and sides.

"I agree," she said, concern written all over her face. Dropping the sword, she headed over to check on the twins, a frown creasing her face. "I'm so sorry, Solar and Sky. I should have been gentler. Do either of you need a healer? For I know someone who could help."

”It’s ok,” Solar said as the pair moved closer, Sky seeming a bit shaky. Though she looked bad, it was becoming easier to see that the pain didn’t seem to match what happened. Sky then looked at Cara with a weak smile. ”My pain t...tolerance has never b-been good.”

Sky's statement only served to make Caramina feel guiltier, as could be seen in the deepening of her frown. "I see. I'm really sorry," she said again. "Are you sure you don't want to see the healer, though? She's my friend—she won't mind. And even if your wounds are... superficial, she does have a supply of balm to soothe away any pain." She looked over the twins, looking for confirmation that there indeed wasn't any bleeding gashes caused by a slip in her concentration, though the lack of it (or so she saw) didn't do anything to ease her guilt.
