Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

Post by Hue Fri Nov 03, 2017 11:54 am

The sun beat down on the rising slopes of the Etcan mountains, casting long shadows across the terrain. The air was cold, dry, and the wind raged on against the wishes of all the hopeful dragons out for a stroll or a hunt. It bit at their scales and howled in their ears, leaving many disgruntled and annoyed. In the upper peaks of the mountains snow swirled and hissed as it was thrown about through the air, and despite the crummy weather, the sky was still bright, not a cloud in the sky.

In the territory of the Vuari, dragons rushed about as they lived their every day lives. Merchants chatted, civilians mingled, and officials conversed about current political and economic issues. Hue was caught up in an updraft, his wings spread out catching the air. He was on his way to the market, but was doing it begrudgingly.

He had been conversing with a friend of his, and he had been told it might do him some good to socialize more. Hue had scoffed at this idea, and claimed that he didn't need to. Eventually it ended with Hue flying off in a huff.

Letting out an annoyed sigh, Hue swooped down to the market place, looking around with a bored expression. Nothing particularly interesting happening, as per usual. He decided to just start walking, letting out an annoyed groan as he passed the conversing dragons on the street.

Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Re: Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

Post by Hyruu Sat Nov 04, 2017 6:15 pm

Hyruu distractedly counted the coins that just landed into his paw, making sure the count was good before nodding at his client and storing the money in the satchel that was mostly hidden in his fur. The other dragon left with the piece of meat they just bought, and Hyruu quickly placed another one from his reserve at the vacant spot on his stand.

Today was the week's market day among the Vuari, and many of them were trying to accumulate a few extra coins from their diverse activities. Hyruu's stand was one among many others, and many dragons stopped by to either look or buy something from him. His merchandise mostly consisted in raw materials and meat, though what made his different from the others was the origin of those components. Hyruu was definitely making use of his ability to adapt quickly from the difference in altitude between the Vuari's home and the lower mountain, and as such he could hunt preys and gather fruits most other dragons couldn't. Those unusual berries and meat among the Vuari definitely allowed him to gather some extra money for himself and his mate.

The grey furred dragon was smiling, though today his smile seemed to be more than the standard commercial smile. It was more the slightly dreamy smile of someone who got some happy news. He was a bit absent-minded, looking at the dragons passing by without really paying too much attention. Hyruu barely noticed Hue among the potential clients, barely remembering him from a few previous occasions - though he never really spoke to him.

Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Re: Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

Post by Fate Sun Nov 05, 2017 6:42 pm

Deciding reluctantly to get out of his pile of blankets, the leader of the Vuari stretched and got out of bed. He could hear the wind howling outside the cave and frowned. Windy and probably very cold. Two things that Fate the Nebula Wyvern didn't like. He yawned massively, wishing he could curl back up and sleep. But he had responsibilities and it was the tribe's market day. He thought he would make an appearance and look at what some of the vendors had to offer.

Grabbing his plain black cloak from off the wall, he put it on snugly around him. It was soft and fluffy, so he hoped that it would take away some of the bite of the wind and cold. Swallowing, his throat felt dry and sore. His stomach also growled unhappily. Making his way up to the surface, he braced himself for the cold wind that blew into his face. Going over to where the prey was collected, he picked up a half frozen squirrel and ate it quickly.

Fate noticed that he had slept in too long, as almost everyone was down at the market. He jumped into the wind with one leap and soared as gracefully as he could with the harsh wind over to the marketplace. He looked around. Dragons were buying and selling goods all over the street. The mood was happy, with no dragons seeming to be in a bad mood.

He smiled as he recognized one of the vendors. Walking up, he greeted kindly, "Hey, Hyruu. What are you selling this... frosty morning?"

Hyruu turned his head as a familiar voice called his name. He was a bit surprised to see the leader himself in front of his stand, having a second of delay before he could formulate an answer.
"Oh hello Fate! Well, erm, today... First of all I've got some fresh deer and some cow. And it's not only fresh because of the temperature! Hunted this morning, straight from the lower lands. I've also got a few berries, perfect to add to a meal for some extra taste. There you can see some birch wood, these pieces are perfect for some wood carving. Anything you're interested in?" the grey dragon enumerated.

Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Re: Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

Post by Hue Mon Nov 27, 2017 3:15 pm

Hue ventured through the crowds of people, quickly beginning to regret his decision to come all the way down here. He had forgotten about the Vuari's affinity for a general 'market day' as they liked to call it. Honestly, Hue didn't understand why all these dragons felt the need to do stuff they didn't normally due. They weren't street merchants, and he doubted any of them actually had the charisma to pull any of their tactics off. But oh well. And that was another thing. It seemed like so many of these vendors were selling furs and food. Why on Nuira would Hue buy something like that when he could go hunt his own food? The aspect annoyed him.

But there was one interesting part of this whole endeavor. As Hue navigated his way through the crowd, he spotted something most unusual. The king himself, casually talking with one of the vendors that Hue faintly recognized. Maybe he'd seen him once or twice at a festival? Who knows. Whatever the reason, if Hue could remember seeing him, then he probably wasn't someone that normally did street vending. Nonetheless, out of curiosity, Hue decided to venture over to the two. If it was enough to captivate the chief's attention, then maybe it would captivate Hue's.

Unfortunately, such a thing turned out to be not the case. It seemed this vendor was primarily selling meats. There were a few tantalizing and uniquely colored berries, which Hue thought might attract the attention of some, but he himself wasn't phased much. The wyvern couldn't help but let out a small scoff at the display.

Another rather surprising thing was the fact Fate seemed to have come here without guards. Well, then again, Fate wasn't exactly known as the most feeble dragon. He could surely take care of himself. Hue walked up to the two, dipping his head towards Fate, "Good evening, your majesty." he greeted, then turning towards Hyruu and offering a sly smile, "Vendor."

Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Re: Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

Post by Fate Tue Dec 05, 2017 9:33 pm

Smiling as Hyruu went about telling him all of the items he had for sale, Fate was glad that he didn't treat him formally, but was rather seemed like he was talking to a friend or some other random dragon in the tribe. He hated when a dragon would treat him with too much respect. He wasn't superior to the rest of his tribe. He was a normal dragon, just like them. They shouldn't be made to feel inferior.

After pausing a moment to think, he answered, "Hmmm... Could I have one of the birch wood and some berries?" Reaching into his cloak pocket, Fate pulled out a several coins that seemed a bit too much for what he was buying. "Will this do?" he asked, spreading them out on the stand.

Just as he placed down the coins, he heard someone behind speak behind him. Turning around, a dragon that seemed familiar to him greeted him. He had spent a long time trying to memorize as many names of the Vuari as he could, trying to connect himself with his kingdom as much as possible.

He sifted through names in his head, trying to find the correct one. "Good evening," he replied. "I'm sorry, but what is your name again? Does it begin with an "H"?

Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari] Empty Re: Liken to a Fire [Private Vuari]

To Hue, he found it quite impressive that the leader could memorize so many names. There had to be hundred of citizens within the Vuari empire, and Hue knew that their chief liked to stay on a personal basis with as many as he could. Or maybe he just learned the names of dracons who were in the royal army/guard. Could be either.

Hue merely straightened his shoulders, and simply said, "Yep. The name's Hue." he would say, "Surprised you remember at all, though."
