Personality: Coal is generally kind and polite to customers and strangers, although he is reserved and doesn't really give out information about himself. Behind the charismatic,professional exterior he puts on, he's actually very quiet and enjoys silence. He loves his daughter with the ferocity of a thousand suns, and will do anything to protect her. He's overprotective, keeping her schooled at home for fear of her being bullied or peer pressured into fighting at school, but he loves her very much. His life revolves around Ember and keeping her safe. Coal is very passionate about his work and can come off as quite eccentric when he goes into a rant about making jewellery.
Hobbies: Coal likes to improve his jewellery making, but when he's not working in that area he enjoys practising his aerial acrobatics and drawing. He also collects cacti.
Likes: Coal loves to spend time with Ember, his daughter, and take walks in nature. He also enjoys watering his plants and tending to them, as well as heading out to desert areas to find cacti to collect. He likes desert climates.
Dislikes: Coal hates being wet, as it dampens his powers. He also dislikes being cold, since he is a fire dragon and that too weakens him magic-wise. He despises dealing with pompous or stupid customers or having his work needlessly criticised. He doesn't mind helpful comments, but stuff like that really grinds his gears.
Fears: Coal is afraid of anything happening to his daughter, so much so he comes off as an 'overprotective dad.' He also fears his shop being closed down, as it is all the family has.

Mate: His mate, Fierce, was killed in battle.
Offspring: A single daughter, Ember.
History:

Coal was hatched and raised with the Ki'Sha. He had always loved to smith and wanted to become a Vuuaan, but he comes from a long line of Ki'Shin warriors, and his parents wanted him to be the same, seeing Jewel Smithing as 'a coward's excuse to not serve the Ku'za.' He rose to the rank 'Ugaan,' but he was still an outcast from the family. He met Fierce when they were put on patrol together. Her feisty yet kind demeanour attracted him to her, and they fell in love. However, soon after Ember's egg was laid, Fierce was called away to deal with some bandits harassing a group of Ugaans. She never came back.

Not wanting to risk his daughter having the same fate,Coal hid her underneath his armour, and ran as soon as he was alone on patrol. He fled to the Stormcallers, who mercifully took him in and made him a Jewel Smith. From the gold he'd made as a soldier, he started up his own shop. He doesn't plan on going back, ever.

Wingspan: Eight feet.
Scale/Fur/Feathers: Coal has black scales, the colour of coal.
Eyes: One eye is sky blue, the other is a flaming orange.
Accessories: Coal wears silver and gold bracelets around his wrists, and rings around his horns.
Armor: He refuses to ever wear armour again.
Horns/Spikes: Coal has four horns on the back of his head, one set under the other. The smaller horns are barely half the length of the ones branching from the back of his skull. He has tiny spikes lining his spine.

Things not in the picture: Coal has a few scars from his training in the Ki'Sha. He is missing patches of scales missing where they never grew back.


Abilities: Coal can breathe orange fire that reaches 200 degrees celcius.
Strengths: Coal is a good fighter. He is exceptional at Jewel Smithing.
Weaknesses: Coal may be able to fight well, having been put through gruelling training in the KI'Sha, but unless his daughter is in trouble, he will NOT harm another dragon. He just can't, he made a vow that he would never give Ember the impression that fighting is okay. This means he can be attacked, by he won't fight back.
He is fast, but not strong, easily overpowered by a larger, bulkier opponent.
He would do anything to keep Ember safe. Because of this, he can easily be manipulated if he believes she's in danger.
Fighting Style: Coal has vowed never to fight unless it's to protect his daughter. When forced to battle, he will blast his opponent with fire and dart around them.
Magic:

Levitate Objects: Coal can levitate small objects, like tools or books. He can't lift dragons, it's more of a useful power than an offensive one, although he can use it to smack opponents with tools. He can levitate objects up to twenty feet away.
